Could I damage the PTO by doing this?

Woody brush is more flexible than rocks so the impact is less severe and breakage less likely. That said, the lower you try to cut it the more you flirt with damage. Rotary cutters have swing-back blades so impact to the tractor gears is reduced. (Installing a slip clutch on the pto shaft...

    L3010 hst

Troubleshooting an HST can be tricky - not to mention potentially hazardous. I've sent some ideas to you by PM. Dick B

    L3010 hst

First thing to check is the pedal linkage etc looking for obvious damage or interference. The linkage has several parts that can get bent, broken, blocked. Inside the HST the rotating group could have a seal plate leak that would affect one direction. Internal repairs can be expensive so its...

    L345DT Front Axle Leak

The parts diagram at the Kubota website is the same as you posted. (copy attached) It doesn't indicate a superceding part number for seal 8. Usually if there's a change they note it there. Also, googling the seal part number returns no clues it has been replaced. I've noticed the Kubota...

    L275 4wd Catastrophe

If the drive unit and gears look ok that's good to know. The front differential turning the wheels in different directions does indicate the spider gears and bushings are ok - but the main bevel pinion and ring gear could have an issue. Sometimes it's just bearings, sometimes teeth are worn...

    L345DT Front Axle Leak

How much had the dealer taken apart when they replaced the seal? Is it possible the seal is right side up but something else in the stack was in the wrong order? Maybe the only way to solve it is take the whole shaft/housing stack apart and study all the fits as it goes back together. Fir...

2006 Kubota L48 HST leak @ valve plate

The paper gasket is pretty narrow in places. A hardening-type adhesive sealant like Ultra Grey might hold up better. Possibly contributing is the fact that as an HST wears, valve plate face leakage may increase slightly, which tends to pressurize the inside of the case. There's a relief...

    L275 4wd Catastrophe

Gasket is paper - rtv would work ok. Unlikely the front ring and pinion are damaged from an incident - more common for them to get worn if always left engaged and the tractor has a lot of hours on pavement. Or maybe its just bearings - could be cheap to fix.

    L275 4wd Catastrophe

Yes the bearing has moved forward - needs to go back so the seal fits flush. The "cover" that holds them in place is the rear section of the telescoping shaft enclosure. Any chance the prior owner still has it ? I'm wondering what symptoms led the prior owner to take down the front...

    L275 4wd Catastrophe

You could use a couple washers as keepers that would screw on to hold the seal from falling out - its not under pressure so anything would keep it in, restoring use of the tractor. Does the tractor move around ok in 2wd without the front axle grinding or making noises? If so that's a good...

    L2550 Oil Leak

Kubota gear housings generally use studs threaded into blind holes (not thru-holes). Has the machine ever been separated at that joint? There can be leaks if the original gasket adhesive wasn't removed completely. That location is not pressurized so a possible cure would be to drain the oil...

M6800 1-2 gears out, 3-4 work ok transmission broken

See this reply on TBN. Back in 2001 there was a TBN post about M6800's popping out of 2nd gear. Kubota ended up doing a mainshaft redesign. This failure could be related - there might even be a slim chance of getting some factory help, especially with so few hours on it. Good luck. Dick B

    How hot is your HST?

My understanding is somewhat different on this. Just as a gear-type transmission's efficiency is about the same in first, second or any other gear, an HST's efficiency curve is pretty flat too. Engine efficiency varies with rpm, but hst efficiency changes very little with speed of rotation...

    How hot is your HST?

HST's give their hydraulic oil a workout so it heats up. The heat is not from mechanical friction - its from viscosity of oil being forced thru small passages. Hot HST fluid is expected and normal.

    L2250 spun bearing/rebuild

Doesn't look like you need a ton of parts. The crank will clean up fine - even the rod might be usable if checked for non-binding operation assembled in the block with new bearing shells. Check your oil pump for internal debris and wear and make sure the oil passages in the block are clear...

    345dt clutch replacement

jgrup, I've had three of these machines - I'm assuming you've tried adjusting the pedal linkage? With the pedal full-down does the pto stop turning? If it does, try adjusting the pedal linkage before diving deep. There's a good range of adjustment. You can actually adjust it to the point...

    Compression Test Question

I'm not Chubby - more like plain fat - but I'd suggest turning the head upside down and pouring some gasoline in the valve recesses to see which ones hold it and which ones let leak out through the seat.

    L3130 hst problems

There are ports and procedures for checking pressures set out in the WSM. The threaded ports have British straight pipe threads - charge pump circuits run approx 400-500 psi - main drive circuits are ten times higher - approx 5500 psi. Need the right fittings and gauges - and an abundance of...

    L3130 hst problems

From the symptoms the cause is hard to pinpoint. If it wouldn't move forward or back, the clutch could be a possible cause. But if it later changed and moved forward slowly, eventually moving forward ok but still with no reverse, that points more toward HST linkage. It has several rods and...
