If anyone has insight it would be greatly appreciated, working on A 2006 kubota L48 , It has a leak between valve plate and HST, this is the 3rd time its been split in 650 hours for same thing, gasket seems to walk around and then finally fails, Checked both surfaces with straight edge both are flat, Kubota said to use silicone, rather then gasket TA240-58190, Just doesn't sound like an answer. Really do not want to split this Tractor again.

The paper gasket is pretty narrow in places. A hardening-type adhesive sealant like Ultra Grey might hold up better.

Possibly contributing is the fact that as an HST wears, valve plate face leakage may increase slightly, which tends to pressurize the inside of the case. There's a relief valve to the reservoir to control it, but the gasket does need some strength. Spotless solvent-cleaned surfaces are in order.

Hope the third time is the charm - splitting an L48 is not simple. Take care, Dick B
