Wetdog my 6040 is the same way as yours. I've found it annoying at times as well but just work around it same as you.. Yes my loader will indeed pick up the front-end with the main cylinders but not the tilt or curl.

Just to ask... is there a second adjustment for the pto clutch? My only experience with a dual clutch is on old Masseys to be exact and they had a separate adjustment (three screws) in the back end of the clutch you had to adjust as well as the main clutch.

The float is "positioned" by balls around a spool internal to the control valve. If you look at the valve (under the right side floorpan, inside the protective shield) I believe it's the upper cable that is the up/down spool. Memory being what it is, you may want to trace the cable. Anyhow on...

Too soon? Probably. Most likely the mechanic was sloppy changing the fuel filter, it's hard not to spill some amount. If it doesn't abate over the next few drives then I'd start looking for the source.

It's possible you're smelling gear oil but it almost always has to be leaking to do so unless it's dripping on something hot. I'd start out by looking it over carefully and make sure you don't have a hydraulic leak somewhere. forgot to add...... check your levels, perhaps that'll narrow down...

I'm not aware of a sensor for the pto itself and can't find one on either the service or parts manual. The only sensor of note is the travel sensor on the left side of the tranny. As near as I can tell the rpm display for the pto is just a computation by the processor off the engine speed...

Just to state the "obvious". It doesn't take a whole lot of angle to affect the apparent level on the gauge/stick. Make sure the tractor is sitting on a pretty level area when checking.

No but it sounds like an excellent idea to me..... I've often grumbled about having to walk around and reach for each little adjustment at times. Perhaps someone will offer up a good design... just to throw it out there I wonder if a smooth sliding lawnmower type cable would work out?

They're pretty much all the same given a difference between the heavy duty and standard models IMO. That said I've not had any problem with mine (standard). I think it's made well enough for my usage, which is occasional, mostly just for fence posts.
