    I am beat`

Sorry to say but, best get a handful of death certificates ordered up. FIL passed this last Winter and I believe we went through close to a dozen of them settling his very simple/modest estate.

    Bx 1880 loses rpm

That's a better picture than the one I looked at. I failed to notice the yellow PTO range stopping at 3,400 but, you are right. I just wonder if the 80 Series has an improved fuel gauge. It's the one thing on our BX1870 that has failed to impress...

    Bx 1880 loses rpm

Googling images for 'BX1880' instrument cluster shows a PTO range from 3,200-4,000 engine rpm. My guess is that 540 PTO speed is somewhere between 3,200 and 3,500 rpm on the tachometer.

Building a 5th wheel bucket hitch.

Stumped me, as well. I either missed something or nickel posted in the wrong place. Can't wait to find out.

    BX Inner Air Filter

Food for thought... Most SCUT's don't come with fluid filled rear tires, wheel spacers, block heaters, battery tenders, under armor or tooth bars. Why add any of these things when they did not come as standard equipment? Maybe because they are a good idea. If I never left the nice green lawn...

    Box Blade Scarifiers

Yes, shortening your top-link will allow the scarifiers to go a bit deeper before collecting material in the box. It also results in a more aggressive angle on the scarifier, making it want to dig deeper.

    BX Inner Air Filter

Yep, I think your' assessment is on the money. For me, running a safety element was a no-brainer. The only risk being a loss of power and/or over heating. I can tell you, after one complete Summer, I had ZERO loss of power and my temp gauge ALWAYS ran with two bars showing on the LCD display...

    L4060/LA805 Loader Capacity Question

Re: L4060/LA805 Loaded Capacity Question If you are hauling between the same two locations, would it be feasible to build a trailer-deck height loading ramp at each location?

Flail implement for brush and such?

Re: Flail implement for tractor Flyidaho, you can do it all with the right flail. However, the big sagebrush will be best handled by a 'hammer' type blade and the balance of your mowing will be best served using 'y-knives'. They are usually interchangeable, depending on the type of mount. One...

    Rain gear / bug clothing

For the feet, xtratuf brand deck boots (aka: Alaska tennis shoes) are a must. Get the basic insulated model for all-day walking comfort. Being from Maine, I would think you would get plenty of use from them at home, as well. Deadliest Catch may have put them in the mainstream but they have been...

    Flail implement for tractor

Flail mowers can do anything from cutting up brush to mowing a pasture to finely clipping a lawn. It really comes down to drum speed and blade selection. You may not be able to change the speed much on a given unit but, there will be a lot of blade styles to pick from.

    BX 2200 tractor w/mower

Not in the market but gotta' say, that is one nice looking 2200! Good luck with the sale.

Back blade into a box blade without the teeth

My box blade, and about every one I have seen, has the cutting edge 3/4-1" below the sides. I would start there. If you don't like it, you can always add to the bottom of your ends. Guess you could make them adjustable also, if you want to get fancy.

Building a 5th wheel bucket hitch.

I move mine all the time with a plate and pipe bolted into the bucket, much like vic mentioned. The open-top pipe is just large enough for the trailer king pin to fit inside. I made my pipe 14" tall so I could make tighter turns without getting the sides of the bucket into the front of the...

    Throttle dodad falling off...

:D Yeah, no reason to remove unless a guy somehow ruined the grip itself and needed to replace it. If that was the case, destroying the old grip would be irrelevant.

    Throttle dodad falling off...

I used some Automotive Goop (real name, by the Shoe Goo people) from NAPA. It has good adhesion and is somewhat flexible when cured. That was a year ago and it's holding just fine. All but certain I could break the bond by twisting if I ever had to remove it.

    BX1880 or BX2380?

Re: BC 1880 or 2380? Decision made. Nothing left to do but get familiar with the new machine and enjoy it. I don't think there was a 'wrong' choice to be made between the two for the duties you described.
