How cold & white is it where you at present.

Right now at 4:15 pm it's -7 with predicted low to be -30 to -35 tonight with wind chill approaching -50 tomorrow. Ahh, it's winter in the frozen north.

    Why?

That probably sums it up. Never looked at it that way, but now that you mention it :D

    Why?

I've noticed on this site along with several others that the posters and/or responders refer to their snow blower, tractor, gun, whatever, as a "SHE" or "HER". Now I was not aware that you could buy any of the above named equipment in a different or preferred gender. I just went out and went...

    BX Front mount Snowblower?

I spray my chain with motorcycle chain lube. It stays on and I only have to do it twice a season. Once to begin and 2nd time about Feb.

    UDT or Gear Oil

I've got a little over 500 hr on my BX2230, but when the time comes for me to make the decision between UDT or gear oil I'll have to think hard on it. No leaks yet with UDT in it but if I do switch, I will use synthetic gear oil.

    Stink Bugs

Thanks, we have something similar here but not like those. The ones we have do not cluster up and are ok to have around. Now those chinese lady bugs/beetles are another story. Those are a real pest and have a foul smell when you kill them.

    Stink Bugs

Just what is this stink bug? I've heard people describe 1/2 dozen different bugs as "stink bugs". Do you have a pix or a link?

    Portable gas cans

To each his own, but I'll take the "old" cans over the new one all day.

    bigger commercial fuel nozzles

They have the larger nozzle where I get my OR and I do have a newer 5 gal can. When you put fuel in it ( I only get around 3.5 gal at a time) it flows so fast the displaced air in the can has a tendency to mist some of the fuel out. I always get 1/2 a dozen paper towels before I begin, because...

    Portable gas cans

I went on Ebay and got some of the yellow vent caps. Could not be easier, drill a 1/2" hole and they pop right in. Looks factory made. I liked that modification better than the tire valve. I found that using a 1/2" step drill cut a cleaner hole than a regular drill also. Not sure what the long...

    Portable gas cans

This might give us a clue as to who/what was behind the change maybe? CARB compliant.... CARB = California Air Resources Board Maybe the EPA just followed California?

    Portable gas cans

[/B] Now I wonder how the EPA came to that decision? Did they have a drone? satellite? watching over everyone using those nasty old cans, or was it just another one of those things that the save the planet groups convinced them was necessary? Or was it some ham handed klutz that works in the...

    Portable gas cans

Sweet...I saw another one that used the old style plastic vent also. They both require a 1/2" hole. I'm gonna have to look into that and fix the 2 useless cans my SIL got at WalMart.

    Portable gas cans

"Finally someone who has tried one of the good 'new' cans. I like em better than the old cans." I'm sure you do and I'm sure they work very well .... BUT ... $42 for a plastic can w/spout seems quite pricy. Now if they were 1/2 that I'd be taking a long hard look at them.

    Portable gas cans

I've dealt with that seller before and she also has the replaceable spouts/gaskets if you you need them. She is extremely nice to deal with and very fast on delivery. I have some spout gaskets coming from her this week...... tomorrow probably. I recommend checking her out if you need parts for...

    Portable gas cans

I refuse to pay XX$ for something that I have to modify right away to make it work properly. Call me stubborn! I'll just keep my eyes open for some good "old" ones. They're lots out there, just have to be patient.

    Thanks for the "heads up".

    Portable gas cans

$40 for a gas can that is user friendly? No thanks, I'll keep scrounging for good condition "old school" gas cans at a more reasonable price.

    Portable gas cans

One of my friends tried that and found that the new cans have a different thread or size than the old ones and it didn't work. I've not tried it my self but he's usually pretty reliable.

    Portable gas cans

Those kits are great if you need new parts for your old container. They sell them here locally for about $9 or $7 on sale, but you still need the gas can to use them on.
