    Whats this sewing machine thing?

Thanks so much David, I've done that just now. I'm OK for manuals for the 201K, I am keen to find an operating manual for a Husqvarna class 21, so I'll ask there too. John

    Thank you, I will :)

    Whats this sewing machine thing?

Thanks torch and guys! I have a button-holer and this seems to be an entirely different beast, so maybe it is a walking foot. It seems to be jammed up, no adjustments are free, so I'll dismantle it and see if I can make sense of it :-) I have an old Singer 201K so if I get it freed up I'll...

    Whats this sewing machine thing?

Pretty sure this fits on an older (!) type sewing machine, but does anyone know what it's called and what it was supposed to do? Embossed on it is "AMSO", "D.B.P." and stamped underneath "Made in Germany". Its about 6" wide, 1.75" high, and 4.5" long. Thanks in advance.

    Hydraulic Identification Help?

The ones I have aren't genuine, the levers were extended upwards to put them within easier reach of the operator. Photos of my setup here: https://www.orangetractortalks.com/forums/threads/advice-needed-on-adding-hydraulic-circuit.43805/#post-531414.

    Hydraulic Identification Help?

That's a great thing you are doing :-) My M4500DT of about the same vintage uses BSP parallel threads for some connections (e.g. pressure line to the stacked valves on the side of the transmission) , and metric parallel threads (e.g. on valve work ports and return line connection to...

    B8200 battery troubles...

Michael if you are running your batteries flat every now and again, I'm surprised you get even 3 - 4 years out them. Like 07Wingnut says, you can only kill a battery so many times until it decides to stay dead. So you are the problem :) Is there nothing to warn you that the key is left on? On...

Anybody know where to buy a coarse-pitch spur gear?

@Showmedata That doesn't look like a spur gear profile to me but maybe it would work. In addition to PoTreeBoy's idea, places to research if you want a spur gear would include as a starting point: SAE standard profile, or AGMA https://www.agma.org/. If you can't find a stock gear, then look...

L2501 Turbo: A Journey Defined - The tractor, The comparison, The modification, The results...

Mike, I love what you are doing. Very professional, well thought through. I had been wondering about pistons melting too (some turboed diesels use a jet of engine oil to the undersides of pistons to cool them) but I think you've covered all that with the above explanation. Nice job!

And thank you for a very interesting set of posts. I'm interested in the cooling system load, is the exhaust temp pyrometer a good indication of cooling system temperature or have you also been monitoring coolant temp separately?

    After market filters

Seriously, do you think all aftermarket filters are the same quality? They vary enormously in quality, some (a few?) might be as good or better that Kubota, the rest are unlikely to be as good, being a triumph of marketing over quality and common-sense.

    Split Brakes

I use independent brakes reasonably often when travelling across steeper slopes. The soil here is greasy when damp. Even travelling uphill on a slight angle, if the front wheels starts drifting to the side so rather than turn against the drift and cut furrows in the soil, instead gentle...

    Where are the missing models

Many websites seem to be designed solely according to the perspectives of the vendor/supplier, and they don't think from the customer perspective. The patient portal that the medical centre I use is a classic - absolutely impossible for patients to navigate or understand without a lot of trial...

LAYING 1" POLY PIPE WITH A SUBSOILER

"A Grundfos SQ Flex pump and about 650 watts of solar will handle that just fine" I like the sound of your system. I installed a SQFlex about 7 years ago and it's been brilliant. In case of interest: 5 x 250W panels feed it, probably oversized but I wanted to make sure it worked well for...

    750d injection pump fears

And interesting too... its an old ex-university binocular style dissecting microscope so it has much better depth of field than the monocular ones. I learnt that there's no such thing as cloth that is "lint free". Excellent for examining wear on precision items like delivery valves, comparing...

    Beware of aftermarket pistons

Thanks for posting Muggman, I have learned quite a lot from this thread. Things I never knew I didn't know, the great thing about OTT. For me I wouldn't rule out buying aftermarket parts from China, but the thread has helped me understand differences that might be unacceptable. In any event...

    750d injection pump fears

It's good to challenge assumptions. I like to repair stuff myself too when necessary, its very satisfying. In my case I got the pros to overhaul the injectors and test the pump. Why... because of the tight tolerances, which are literally microscopic. I used a microscope to look at a...
