New to me 1981 Kubota m4500DT

Good pictures would definitely help because some details of what you describe are different to what I would have expected. if you don't already have the operators, engine, and workshop service manuals make sure to get them from Kubotabooks.com. The tractor WSM there is rather generic, I have a...

New to me 1981 Kubota m4500DT

The float on my sender unit was rubbing on the tank wall and wore some of it away, plus the sender had failed, looked like someone had attempted to repair the windings. I replaced it with a capacitive unit, matched the output with a couple of resistors so was able to keep the original gauge...

New to me 1981 Kubota m4500DT

Nice job! Those extra hydraulic circuits will add so much usability. Definitely dedicate one to a hydraulic top link. Are you using the original fuel level sender for the gauge?

Not a Kubota... but I need a bit of help on this tractor

Butch if your best friend loves his/her tractor and intends to keep it, (and if there's the space for it) consider an extra valve or 2 with the joystick unit. They don't have to be plumbed in but could be for a future something useful like a hydraulic top link for the 3 pt hitch. Those links...

    M7500DT Troubleshooting and V4000 A Rebuild

Might be worth checking: if your rebuild kit includes semi-finished liners (most do) and if you plan to install them in-frame (hopefully not necessary) then you will need in-frame boring to size them correctly.

    Work Shop Manuals (WSM)

Holger's CMN (Classic Machinery www.classicmachinery.net) website has kubota and other farm/construction equipment manuals - I uploaded a Kubota manual there because at 100Mb it was too big for kubotabooks.com. Also a hay mower manual.

    M4700 PTO Clutch

And did they give you the old parts they took out? I should have suggested this earlier, before you got the dealer to split it. Always nice to have evidence... if it exists.

How big a job replacing water pump? M4050

Or thin plywood... anything that will stop you accidentally bending the radiator fins or damaging the tubes. Only takes a spanner to slip, or the pump suddenly freeing from the block ... Or use the Russell King technique.

    L6060 Tractor and Post Driver?

Yes I have some experience both as a operator and employer of farm fencing contractors. A key question in your search would be whether you need sideshift so you can drive forwards parallel to the line of the fence, with the post driver offset to one side. If you have enough space for the...

Voltage regulator rectifier for LiFePO4 battery

Hi GreensvilleJay, ctfjr, thanks so much. Looks like a great idea. I'll put a meter on the charging circuit and see what it actually delivers (manual says "up to 15.5V") to determine whether I need one diode or 2. If I go the bridge rectifier option, how should that be wired in? Like this...

Voltage regulator rectifier for LiFePO4 battery

This might also apply to changing the lead-acid battery on your tractor to LiFePO4, but for me its about my Honda TRX500 quad bike. Specs for LiFePO4 automative 12V batteries say the charge volts needs to be 14.6VDC or less to avoid damaging the battery - even if the battery has a built in...

    Thread type

Not daft, does your metric selection have course, medium and fine threads? Or get a thread pitch gauge onto the handle.

Hydraulic Valve manufacture and model recommendations

Got a 3 spool valve with joystick from China a couple of years ago, works well, doesn't leak. I don't know if the spools are hard chrome or the o-rings buna-N, it has load check, can provide more info if you aren't afraid of buying from a different continent :-)

    M4500/ S2600 Engine

Thanks. It looked to me like the relative sizes (front vs rear) were different from original tyres and might lead to 4wd binding.

    M4500/ S2600 Engine

Impressive! Thanks for the photos. The wheels... are they just to get it mobile (different from the ones in the original parts photo), or what you intend to use?

M4500DT 3 point linkage not working after oil change

Thanks, but really I only know a bit about mine, this forum has been an invaluable source of info and you have contributed a lot too.

M4500DT 3 point linkage not working after oil change

Mine had that and it turned out that the brushes were shagged. But better to do the other checks first. The recommended brush lengths in some manuals are wrong. Bonus finding on dismantling the starter: the steel ball in the "magnet switch" :-) was missing, easily replaced.
