    Need info about valves

That valve is definitely Chinese, I have one, only difference being that mine has a joystick. Looks to me like the calipers in the OP's photo are sitting on the neck of the plug which will be slightly less than the minor diameter of the thread, so it's possible that like mine, the ports are all...

    M4050 PTO grinding

Good place to find those is the Messicks website parts list for your model of tractor. The images are pretty clear, you can probably identify and order them at the same time. Or try Barlow Equipment - advertising on this forum.

    KD-409 rad temp gauge... puzzled...

Hope it brought back good memories! Can I clarify something though, you mention "lower rad hose leaving the block" I sort of feel that the lower rad hose would be leaving the radiator, and entering the block, like the flow of coolant. Is that what you mean? It's the upper hose where flow...

    KD-409 rad temp gauge... puzzled...

Might be on to something there. The lowest range is labelled "Install thermostat" so it may be for engines or something else where a thermostat was an optional item. Could that have been the case for old automotive or stationary engines?

    KD-409 rad temp gauge... puzzled...

Could be, I don't have any better idea. I don't get the "winter range" "summer range" "all thermostat" sections, or why "winter range" is hotter than "summer range". It just seems totally bass-ackward to me. I wondered if it was supposed to be held in the air stream downwind of the radiator...

    KD-409 rad temp gauge... puzzled...

Greetings, does anyone know what the point of this thang is and how it is supposed to be used? I can't find any info about it on the 'net. Thank you.

    Dealer says I need motor

You asked: where should I go from there? Whatever you do, capture that information in writing, with them in the paper trail. Could be your best insurance. But you don't need to get them to write the statement as they may 'forget' or refuse. Instead you are better to (others may have a...

    Dealer says I need motor

It seems Kubota forbids it also on at least some IDI/PC diesel engines too: "Do not use starting fluid to prevent the serious trouble of the engine" for the S2600 engine, circa 1970's.

    Tractor Hydraulics for Dummies?

I agree a wealth of information is available from knowledgeable members on this site, definitely take up their offers of help. It was invaluable when I added a 3 spool valve to my tractor. Returning to your original question, I also found this...

Say what you want about PETA

Similar organisation in NZ highlighted inhumane treatment of calves and the perpetrators were prosecuted. https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/down-cow-pet-food-owner-alan-cleaver-sentenced-over-bobby-calf-cruelty/6PHEM6BCWLMMUNK33TK6U4EEAU/ It shook up the industry and demonstrated how useless the...

    M7500DT PTO clutch won't disengage

As per @Tx Jim, is the PTO clutch lever adjusted according to WSM. As an experiment, have you tried starting the engine with the PTO clutch disengaged, PTO gear engaged, and with a PTO-driven attachment connected? I had a similar issue to yours, so I tried that experiment on mine: the starter...

    M7500DT PTO clutch won't disengage

It's a bit hard to tell which levers you are referring to in which order. PTO clutch lever is on the left of the gear lever. PTO gear engaging lever is on LHS below the seat. Which is the lever that is missing? If you are getting grinding noise when engaging, I'm guessing you are moving the...

    M4050 Valve Clearances

You are welcome, and good idea to ask a dealer :) The specs I have for the PC (IDI) version of this engine say this: Which is pretty close to the 0.009" I'm always inclined to use the metric specs, since they are probably the base/source info from the factory and then some woeful underling...

    M4050 Valve Clearances

Hi TomF, welcome. In the absence of anyone with a M4050 engine manual, I'd probably use the S2600-A clearance of 0.18 mm to 0.22 mm (cold).

    Whats this sewing machine thing?

Yip, must be a button-holer. Thanks for putting me in touch with the victoriansweatshop site, they were very helpful. I hadn't wanted to dismantle it until I'd exhausted all possibilities for positive identification. In the end it came down to pulling the cover off and this is what I found...

    Whats this sewing machine thing?

David that's very kind of you. There are several versions of the class 21 - mine is the bog-standard 21, I have the manual for the 21a which is fairly close but having an electronic version of the manual for the 21 would be great.
