    PTO won't shut off

I don't know your tractor but try depressing the clutch before attempting to engage or disengage the PTO. That should remove any load so it can drop out or be more easily engaged.

LX2610 50 hour maint filter question

The HST does use the same hydraulic fluid as the rest of the system. The main hydraulic filter provides most of the filtration but I believe due to the tighter tolerances of that transmission the HST filter provides extra cleaning for the oil used in the transmission. Look carefully, the two...

    l3301 Valve Clearances

A man's got to know his limitations but anyone with average mechanical abilities should be able to adjust valves. This is generally best done with the engine cold and be sure any valve you're adjusting is not under pressure from the cam, basically the point of greatest clearance.

PTO Gear lever will not move

Does the starter crank the engine over? If it does, all your safeties are satisfied. If it does not you probably have an issue with a safety interlock. If that model has an OPC or operator presence control that would do it, too. My L2501 is HST. I have had issues with the seat safety. My...

Perhaps this is common knowledge for MX owners ....

Thanks for the heads up. I've done the greasing but never realized a plug had to be removed to do a complete job.

    L2501 will not start

I'm not sure why you think it's the PTO safety switch. I've had far more trouble with the seat safety switch than anything else. It turned out the rod which enables it to raise had become detached at one end.

Along the line of lubricants I like to use a moly based grease in sleeve type bearings such as the loader pivots. For roller and ball bearings it is better to use a lithium or sticky red grease as moly is TOO slick and bearings my slide instead of roll. The lithium grease would certainly be...

L3250 Loss of power after tractor warms up

Start by making sure you have good fuel flow from the tank. You may have algae clogging the outlet allowing fuel to slowly fill the lines but not at a fast enough rate to sustain power. It's also possible you have a fuel filter issue or if there's a water collector it may need drained. Be...

    my Kubota won't start

See if you get good fuel flow from the tank. Sometimes blockage will form at the output. Be sure you have fuel flow to the fuel filter as well as beyond. Do you have a water collecting filter which needs emptied periodically? Read your manual for bleeding air from the system. It should not...

Lubrication of LA765 FEL on L4701

Yep, the manual's unclear on that. Incidentally, WD-40 is not a lubricant. It's to protect against moisture. The WD is for water displacement. The 40 indicates it's the fortieth compound they tried.

    Clutch maintenance

That sounds about right to me. Your initial post did not identify which three bolts you were adjusting. I still don't know what that adjustment entails. By all means follow the instructions but if you have the correct amount of free play and everything works you should be good.

Right Lifting Rod Backing-off While Brush Hogging

If you always keep the same setting and jam nuts don't hold consider blue Loctite.

    Clutch maintenance

Do you need to adjust the clutch or just check the adjustment? I usually check the adjustment by depressing the clutch pedal. You should have about an inch of free play before it starts to feel like it's doing anything. If you have that inch of free play you're probably fine.

    Trailer Wiring Holders

That's a clever idea - it would have never occurred to me. I just use half inch EMT bent to shape to protect trailer wiring.

    Chain Box

Very nice and handy, too. I need to check their website to see what other accessories they've come up with that "I can't do without".

    Wiring diagrams

I don't know how you're testing but I'd use an ohmmeter on the bulbs and switch to ensure continuity. You might also check fuses. Are any connectors on the lights disconnected or broken? What's the condition of the bulb sockets? Corrosion is pretty typical on older tractors. Have mice...

    3 point solenoid

Are you sure it's a solenoid and not the safety switch to make sure you're in the seat? With the age of your tractor I think it more likely the three point raises and lowers by mechanical linkage from a lever to the right of the operator's seat. There should also be a valve near or between...

    LX3310 HST Whine

The HST seems louder when working harder - as in higher ranges. I've not tried other tractors to compare noise levels but the Kubota HST is LOUD. Either the noise diminishes over time or you become accustomed to it. I have read that using SUDT2 fluid will reduce the whine. Since that's all...

    Adding weight to Brushcutter

With all that weight be sure to shift into four wheel drive, and by all means keep the bucket as low as you possibly can.

Thanks for your thoughts on the exhaust drain. Perhaps I was lucky with my Mitsubishi, or perhaps when it rained (rarely does) the water stopped in the muffler. In any case my Kubota has a downward exhaust.
