    Hydrostatic vs Geared Transmissions.

With a geared tractor or mower your forward motion speed is controlled by your throttle setting and gear selection. With hydrostatic it's infinitely variable by how far you push the pedal. I LIKE that capability. HST is also preferred when you're doing a lot of switching between forward and...

    LST oil pressure light on.

You may wish to determine if the low oil pressure light was for the hydraulics or the engine oil pressure. If it was the engine oil pressure you definitely do NOT want to run the engine until you know what's going on.

    I have a conspiracy theory

I believe scotch is a drink - specifically a whiskey. The people are Scottish or Scots.

    Breaking tire bead

You can do it. It's not complicated. When you get the bead broken you may find replacing the valve stem is not as simple as you think. If you lack the tool removing the valve stem can be challenging at best. The same is true of installing the new one. Then you need to inflate the tire to...

    PTO shroud

I suspect the shroud is a federally mandated safety device designed to protect the user from stupidity or inattention. On newer tractors it will probably flip up while on older ones it may be stationary. I've seen both. Try flipping it up - movement will be pretty stiff so it should stay in...

    L3240 lift arm issues?

I think you could probably press it out but you could try a liberal application of penetrating oil first. Tap it a few times with a hammer and let it soak for a day or two. You could then try to rotate the pin with vise grips. I'm lazy. I'd go for the press as a last resort.

    B7100-D fuel delivery

Start by pulling the line apart as close to the tank as possible. Monitor the gravity flow of fuel into a container. If flow slows appreciably after a few seconds you may have a blockage at the exit from the tank. Have you tried cleaning or replacing the fuel filter? If you can't establish a...

l series glow plug effectiveness. / what is normal?

If the indicator lights the glow plugs are working. It is essentially a piece of resistance wire in series with the glow plugs. It drops the voltage from 12 down to about 10.5. Glow plugs are heaters and like good old light bulbs they generally work until they burn out. Over time the...

PTO clutch and pto lever use

I've got an L2501 and the local mechanic said to depress the clutch and engage PTO at idle. Release clutch and bring engine up to PTO speed. Depress clutch again to disengage PTO as disengaging without using clutch will cause added wear on gear faces. I've been sticking with his advice.

    Op worklight

Try to find a schematic for your tractor. Many are available for viewing on the Kubota website. I don't know the BX. My L2501 has a connector under the left fender. It is fused at ten amps. Doing the math, that's 120 watts. That circuit turns on and off with my key. Rather than run the...

    Knocking 3901

Gee, my first thought was that it spun a bearing. This is not a good thing as the piston can contact the head and bend a connecting rod. I will tell you 1350 is NOT a lot of hours for that tractor. It should have easily gone double or triple that unless it was run low on oil or lacked oil...

    Geek Squad scam

I regularly get stuff like that. I use Thunderbird as my mail program. It automatically flags a lot of stuff as junk mail but I can add new flags at any time. It helps a lot.

    L175 Trans oil intervals?

It's old enough you may not be able to get an owner's manual. If you just got the tractor it would probably be wise to change all fluids and filters. Beyond that, I think my L2501 wants transmission oil changed at 400 hours.

    L3000 stalling out

Get a container and try disconnecting the fuel line as close to the tank as possible. See if the fuel is flowing freely and if it slows or stops after a few seconds. Sometimes you'll get a blockage right where the fuel exits the tank. It's also possible but unlikely your vented fuel tank cap...

    Larger tires

Expanding a bit on the above, the factory puts tires on a tractor having a ratio between front and rear with a four wheel drive tractor. If your replacement tires are very far from that ratio it will accelerate the wear on drive components and something will give. With a two wheel drive...

    Rear Lug nuts

Your front and rear lug nuts may be different sizes - mine are. In those sizes fractional inch sockets usually fit well, too. I prefer six point sockets for that purpose.

hello, I have a problem with my manual kubota L2850 dt

The viscosity of Super UDT2 should be correct for summer or winter use. Here summer temperatures are rarely over 115 and there's no issue. Try changing your hydraulic oil filter and see if there's some kind of screen in the system which could impede flow.

    Anybody use JB weld?

You may consider removing the top bolt from the gear case, fabricating a sheet metal bracket, and using that bolt to hold it in place. Of course you'd lose nothing (but time) by trying the J-B Weld approach first.

Connecting pto powered backhoe to tractor hydraulic s

If the PTO powers the backhoe that implies a PTO driven hydraulic pump and no connection to the tractor's hydraulics. Is that what you mean or do you just attach the backhoe to the tractor's three point and tie into the tractor hydraulics?

L3000DT Starts, Idles but w/n Accelerate

If it was my tractor I'd want to know whether fuel was exiting tank at a sufficient rate. Sometimes a blockage will build up right where the fuel exits. Break the fuel line close to where it exits the tank to see what kind of flow you get there. I'd let it flow for fifteen seconds or so into...
