How to properly shift gears in a L175

Gears on a tractor are normally selected with the clutch depressed when the tractor is sitting still. You don't shift it like a car. The PTO is normally engaged while the tractor is stationary as well. There may be newer tractors synchronized for shifting on the fly but I've only been around...

Just bought a GR2100 on ebay but now am worried

Kubota is an excellent name in tractors, shady sellers - not so much.

    Missing C-clip in steering knuckle

By all means refer to the Kubota parts breakdown. It will show you exactly which parts SHOULD be there so you know whether any spacers which appear to be missing actually are missing. It will also give part numbers for those missing parts and show the proper assembly sequence.

In the meantime keep an eye on fluid levels - especially hydraulic fluid.

    2012 L4240hstc-3 cold start concern

The black smoke on cold start is pretty normal. I don't know where in the "snow belt" you live but temperature is the only concern for the fuel to gel. You can always set a small container of fuel out somewhere to see if it gels. I don't think it will above twenty degrees F, perhaps closer to...

Hey, Paul, and welcome to OTT. It seems to be a very educational place to hang out.

What is the DT for the L3901DT?

I guess you'll get a surprise when your tractor arrives. 4WD generally costs more than 2 WD, as does HST. I did not know that all HST models were 4WD as Wolfman said. I mean I bought an HST tractor and it is 4WD but I thought the dealer was only stocking 4WD. I've got some learning to do, too.

Advice on a New BX23S Setup

I think you'd find the Kubota worklight rather anemic and limiting. You may wish to consider installation of an aftermarket LED worklight of your own. I am.

    Safety Switch Issue?

I had a similar issue with my new L2501. I even tried adjusting the switch actuator before I noticed the pivot rod. The rod on which the seat pivots should have a cotter pin or some kind of clip holding it in place. If the clip disappears (mine did) the rod can work its way out leaving the...

    Posting recommendations for Newbie?

I believe once you are registered you may post pictures. https://www.orangetractortalks.com/forums/faq.php?s=&do=search&q=pictures&match=all&titlesonly=0 As far as tractor recommendations go it would really be helpful to know the size of your property and anticipated tractor uses.

    BX2230 slow to start

You should not run a hot wire directly to the glow plugs. Most NGK plugs require 9.5 volts. You may want to research the specs on your specific plugs.

The problem with after market parts is not necessarily reliability so much as compatibility. If it's a filter is the degree of filtration the same as the Kubota? Is the relief pressure the same? It's not just about whether the filter will fit and not leak. Fuel and air filters should be less...

    MX4700 loss of power

The whitish smoke is bothersome. Pull your radiator cap when the engine is cold. Start the engine. Watch for air bubbles in the coolant. You COULD have head gasket problems.

    Aftermarket thermostat?

Re: Can we use a aftermarket thermostat on B7510? If the thermostat fits and the temperature range is correct I see nothing wrong with an after market thermostat. Just keep an eye on temperature. If it sticks shut your engine will overheat. If it sticks open you may never know it.

    Correct Hydraulic Fitting Sealant

I don't use sealant on any hydraulic fittings. Actually I don't use sealant on NPT fittings either. The Teflon tape isn't really for sealing. It makes tightening the fittings easier and smoother.

Rear Working lights on a B2650 with Cab

Usually solid black is ground. It's easy enough to find out. Use your meter or a twelve volt test light. Ground one side of the meter or your light. Turn on the key and touch the other lead to the wires in question. If the meter indicates or your lamp lights that is the hot wire. By the...

    Service question

You've used the tractor for seven hours. The previous owner kept it serviced. You could start by asking the previous owner when he last serviced the tractor and what services he performed. Then check the owner's manual to see what is required at 2400 hours. As far as filters go - I'll stick...
