Safety Switch Issue?

I have an L3301DT and I'm running into an issue maybe someone can help me with. After I start my tractor, I push in the clutch and then I try to put it into Forward or Reverse. As soon as I move the lever out of the Neutral Notch, the engine dies. After restarting, I bounced in my seat and then then it would go into gear and run for a while until I shift in the seat and then it wants to die again.

I'm assuming it relates to the Safety Switch under the seat. Can you tell me if there is a way to adjust that safety switch or will I need to purchase a new one? I think I can keep it running if I wear the seat belt which I believe overrides that safety switch. I haven't tested that but I think I read that some where
while looking for some answers.

Hopefully, this topic hasn't been addressed already. I really suck when it comes to research.

Thanks,
Brad

They can be adjusted, but the way to do it is dependent on the tractor model. On my 3560 a piece of cardboard tucked into the back of the seat did it. The dealer replaced the switch on my B2650, but it is velcro attached to the front of the seat. I still have trouble when it gets cold and I have a down coat on, so I sit on an extra piece of styrofoam. My 130 lbs just doesn't do it. Not sure about a 3301, suggest you call your dealer. They can't help you defeat the switch, but should be able to talk you through adjusting its position.

Your tractor is equipped with an Operator Presence Control System.

While your problem likely lies with the seat switch, I suggest you go thru this simple check out to verify the OPC is working as it should.

Does having the seat belt fastened override the OPC System? My tractor is at the ranch, 140 miles away so I will not be able to verify anything until the weekend. If it does, I have some time to troubleshoot all of this without losing the use of my tractor.

When I was out in the field over the weekend, it was pretty bumpy because I hired someone to remove all of the cedars and left some pretty big ruts so I definitely had my seat belt on and things seemed to run better but I never put the seat belt and the OPC system together so I never verified this. Had I, I would have tried the following.

1. Stand on the tractor and move the shifter out of the Neutral Notch, (Engine should die)

2. Fasten seatbelt across seat while standing and move the shifter out of the Neutral Notch. (If Seat Belt overrides, Engine should continue to run).

3. If 2 is true then I know it is Seat Switch and can attempt to adjust it.

4. If 3 doesn't work buy a new switch.

If 3 or 4 don't work, but 2 does, I can at least use my tractor by fastening the seat belt

Seat belt is completely dumb in tractor applications.

It has no role in what is happening with a seat switch other than to keep your weight on the switch.

Doing tests 3 & 4 in my post is to just narrow the problem to the seat switch and not something with the OPC

I had a similar issue with my new L2501. I even tried adjusting the switch actuator before I noticed the pivot rod. The rod on which the seat pivots should have a cotter pin or some kind of clip holding it in place. If the clip disappears (mine did) the rod can work its way out leaving the wrong pressure on the operator presence switch. I reinstalled the rod and got a new clip from my dealer - problem solved. I noted in the parts breakdown there were two different clips listed. I'm guessing Kubota knew of the problem and came up with the new clip as a solution.

I had time to get into the issue this weekend and I believe I was able to resolve the issue. There is an adjustment on the back, below the seat that adjusts the seat suspension. I tried tightening that a bit and gave it a try and it resolved my issues.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I appreciate it.
