SURVEY: Chattering 3 Point (going up)

This would make sense, if it was a widespread problem like some believe. But it really doesn't effect that many tractors. I'd buy another L before I bought a green one!

    4WD working properly?

Yep looks like the old L3750 I did. Lot of work and parts. Seals, bearings and such. Did it in Dec, but have a heated shop to pull the tractor into. The pivot point on the front axle had never been greased, no fittings on this one. The wear was part of the couple/pinion failure, but the big...

& we are usually on the same page.

    4WD working properly?

Yes the coupler turns with the shaft, but can be striped inside. The splines on the pinion shaft might be bad like mine, but it's usually the coupler that's bad. I ended up having to replace the ring/pinion, couplers, bearings & propeller shaft.

    4WD working properly?

Not necessarily. It could be a coupler.

    4WD working properly?

When the front wheel drive went out on our old L3750, I pulled the propeller shaft cover off and could see the front coupler was striped. Turns out it was the splines on the pinion shaft that were striped. New ring & pinion set and a bunch of other parts. Hopefully your is just a coupler...

    3200 vs 3800??

I do really like the 2 stag clutch on the L3800DT. The extra hp is just a bonus when pullin a 5 or 6' rotary cutter.

    jerking 3 pt hitch

The real bad ones can be adjusted internally (top of the valve body has to come off). But the basic L will always have a slightly jerky hitch, only noticed when raised VERY SLOWLY.

    L3800 Pulling power

I use a short boom pole that I made & hang log tongs off the end. If I can't get close enough I use a chain to pull it out so I can get the tongs on it.

    4WD working properly?

That will help, but more weight would be better. 1000-1500 for that size rig. I like to add around 500 lbs to my box blade and use that. Gives me 900 lbs for the L3800... You still likely have something wrong with the front wheel drive, if the front tires don't spin when you're stuck. It might...

    4WD working properly?

Yes! A tractor is designed to use it's rear wheels to do most of the work (see size of rear axle, wheels/tires)... Add a loader to the front and even empty that takes weight off the rear and adds it to the front axle. Load the bucket and well you can see... In 4wd they seem to work pretty good...

    4WD working properly?

Front tire/s no spin when back tires spin, you have a problem. But put enough weight on the 3 pt when using the loader and you would really be surprised. This might be a hint to why the front wheel drive is broken...

SURVEY: Chattering 3 Point (going up)

Yes, but more so on that other forum, with a couple very loud voices that jump in when ever the chance arises... Not as much talk about it here.

SURVEY: Chattering 3 Point (going up)

The adjustment is a one time thing done during assembly. Not something that should ever need adjusting if it's done right the first time. You have nothing to worry about.

SURVEY: Chattering 3 Point (going up)

There is internal adjustment in the 3 pt valve body. It could be has simple as that, or? But it sounds like yours will get fixed for sure.

SURVEY: Chattering 3 Point (going up)

It has to have an implement and has to be raised Very Slow to show the jerkiness. I'd have never noticed it on mine if I hadn't read about it on the interwebs... Like I said, mine isn't a problem and isn't jerky at all in real world use.

SURVEY: Chattering 3 Point (going up)

Ray, none of the basic L tractors raise the 3 pt smooth when raised Very Slow, most will jump about 1/4" at a time. This is normal... Yours jumping 2" is not normal. The bad ones I've seen on youtube are jumping about 1" and that's no good either. I've also heard of other brands doing this as...
