The fact that the majority of the basic L tractors do not have the jerky 3 pt does not fit the story here. But it is a problem with some rigs though. If mine was that bad and still under warranty I'd raise holy hell until it was fixed!
When I was tractor shopping 3-4 years ago the cash price averaged around $1500 less than the 0% on a 20k rig. I had 25K to spend, but ended up with a 1 year old L3800DT with 14 hours on it for 15K...
We've always saved money, constantly adding to the savings. It adds up quickly & is there when we need a new car, truck, tractor, or whatever. Pretty sure my credit score sucks, don't know, or care...
The interest on new tractors is built into the price, so it only looks like 0%... I'd rather save a few grand and not be in debt. I don't want no stinkin payments!
I got my first Kubota (a used L245) at the Ford Tractor place half way to Quincy in the early 80s'... Yes, miss the warm weather about this time of year, but usually not rest of the year. ;)
OK, my manual said just trans filter at 50 & oil at 400. Different model I guess.
By the way I'm org from Tallahassee, move to Missouri in 1990. Bought my first Kubota down there.
At 50 hrs the oil in the L3800 was pretty clean looking. Change it once a year now and still very light colored.
$450 seems excessive on the 50 hrs. You doin the trans fluid? I just did the engine & trans filter.
You were getting stuck in 2wd because with the loader there was very little weight on the rear tires and more weight on the front. You want the larger rear axle carrying most of the weight & doing most of the work, otherwise the smaller front axle is going to eventually fail... Yes, the box...
Yep, fairly easy fix. Ya might want to run some counter weight on the 3 pt hitch
to take some weight off the front axle when the loader is on the tractor.
The L3301DT does not have a 2 stag clutch. But the L3901DT does have a 2 stage clutch. They are basically the same tractor cept for HP & PTO clutch. The L4701DT has a electric PTO switch & pretty sure it's independent.
Just get the one that has the options you want.
I really like the L3800DT...
It all in what ya get used to, auto trany vs manual...
I can go forward and backward with the L3800DT without even thinking about it. Actually the only time I think about it is when on one of theses threads. :D
