New vs used and the little guy

Buying new and trading soon after is not a good idea! I bought a used L3800 a couple years ago with 14 hrs on it for 15K. The org owner took a big ding, I took advantage. Keep the L4600 and make it work, it's a very nice rig!

After market filters for L4600 HST

No way I'd run cheap hydro oil in a newish tractor, especially one with HST!!! There has been many, many reports of HST rigs running & acting better with SUDT2 oil...

How do you get a 2wd to go in the snow?

I ran 2wd tractors for many years... Ballasted right the 2wd rigs did a hell of a lot of work.

    diff lock newbie question

Get some weight (400-600lbs?) on the 3 pt hitch to counter the weight of the FEL hanging out front.

After market filters for L4600 HST

Like Hokie said, the previous did not do the 50 hr service if the filters are gray. Change filters, engine oil and grease everything, especially the front axle pivot, both front & back zerks. Change hydro oil by the book. Change or at least check the front axle fluid.

After market filters for L4600 HST

Your tractor will work better with SUDT2. I wouldn't use a cheaper hydro oil. The engine oil filter can be crossed over to wix etc at local auto parts, but I believe you will have to go to Kubota for the hydro filters. How many hours? If this is the 50 hr change, I would not change the hydro...

    Swapping r4's for r1's

R-1s will help a lot with traction, loaded with wheel weights will also help. But absolutely the best thing for loader work will be hanging more 'counter' weight on the 3 pt hitch!!! That size rig needs at least 1000 lbs to really help.

How do you get a 2wd to go in the snow?

Best you can do is add counter weight to the 3 pt. At least as much weight as the front blower, but as much as it will handle is better. Then add chains to the rear tires...

    BX-25 Tips Easily

Got to have weight (counter weight) on the 3 pt hitch to effectively use a FEL. Your manual probably says to use around 400-450 lbs.

    L3800 Synthetic Oil Change

I don't know that it maters, but I stayed with Reg Kubota oil until around 100 hours then switched to Rotella 5-40 synthetic. Just make sure you do change it at 50 hrs...
