I ran 2wd tractors for 20 years and always got-er-done. But the last 12 years or so with 4wd tractors have sure been nice! :D

I took care of 10 acres, then a larger place for 20 years with a 2wd L245. Nope, not ideal, but it got it done! :cool: If in you shoes, I'd be looking for a 4wd Bota of 18 hp or more...

I would replace the fuel filter first. Sound like a fuel problem.

They are a very simple tractor, basically same as my L3800DT. If it runs & drives good and not leaking any fluids, it will be fine. It probably hasn't sold because most folks want HST trans these days, but I much prefer gear drive! I'd get it at that price!

If you like the way your HST works with that oil all is good. But I've read too many times how SUDT2 makes HST quieter and more responsive and just works better than any other oil..

I'd make me a level spot to take the FEL off. I hate mowing with it on! You'll be surprised at the nimbleness and easier steering..

I'd get it quick before someone else does. Looks like a 16-18 hp from the late 70s'- early 80s'... Nice shape too!

Gotcha. Turning tight with R-4s will chew up the ground a bit. But FEL off, it might not be so bad. ;)

You should be fine. But have you tried mowing with the FEL off? I never mow with the FEL on.

I don't have the QA bucket and MUCH prefer removing the whole FEL, which I do when not using it. As Botadrive said, I really do not think you need any extra weight up front. Have you tried it yet?

Now I did have a 2wd L245 that pulled a 5' mower. Had to use the brakes to turn about half the time. :D That was a hell-of-a tractor though, couldn't kill it. Used it for 20 years.
