Replacing Side Links with Chains . . .

I wouldn't do that. The mower will float and pivot just fine. You do not want it flopping side to side.

    L3800 Fuel guage

Ah yes, another good reason to take the loader off when mowing. Must be why mine uses so little fuel with the hog on there.

    L3800 Fuel guage

I don't remember exactly what my does, but it's a lot better than that. Seems like 7-10 hours on 5 gallons with a 5" bush hog and better yet using loader, box blade... But it does take more fuel to spin that HST. ;)

    Fueling my L3800 sucks !

I was trying to do like dfh said, extra fuel storge, but didn't like having to pour from those cans into the No-Spill cans. Gave the old ones to someone I didn't particularly like and bought a couple more No-Spill. Plan to get another couple more soon.

To drain or not to drain ?

Same here, the trans fluid in mine was crystal clear & no sparkle. I'll change that at 400 hrs. Don't worry about the front axle. SUDT2 will lube just fine. If/when the seals start to leak, change back to 80/90 and/or replace the seals.

    L3800 PTO Rattle/Noise

Yeah, the gear model has a 2 stag clutch and a different type of pto engagement. But other than that I don't know...

To drain or not to drain ?

I didn't change the trans fluid in mine. Filter just had fine metal fuzz on magnet. I will change the front axle soon with 80/90.

    L3800 PTO Rattle/Noise

Mine does not do it, but it's a gear drive. Must be a HST thing?

Why a Grader Scraper is Better than a Box Scraper for Driveway Maintenance

We've been doin a mile long gravel drive (3/4 of it up hill) for 24 years and much prefer a box blade! Most of what we do though is drag gravel back uphill. But I can still get a better finish with the box than I can with a blade. My BIL prefers a regular blade though, so different strokes...

    L3800 hst leak into engine

Your HST level is either high or low, hard to see it if the line isn't in the sight glass. Was the engine oil normal at some point, or is this the first time you've checked it? Engine oil with only 10 hrs will be clear.
