Was it smoking before...even a little?
Next would be to pull the valve cover and look to see if smoke is coming from the head side(valve stems & seals) or the bottom end (rings).

Next would be to pull the valve cover and look to see if smoke is coming from the head side(valve stems & seals) or the bottom end (rings).
White smoke (or ANY smoke) from the breather pipe is ALWAYS an expensive repair. Either valves and guides (rarely) or pistons cylinders or head gasket. An engine can run a long time with excessive crankcase vapors though, as long as it isn't to hard to start!

Not very likely, but odder things have happened!
You could try changing it out, also check for any fuel in the oil, for that matter if anything looks odd about the oil I would change that again too!

A 10 year old filter will have nothing to do with it. You need to be more specific as to how much vapor is coming out the breather. It is not unusual for new oil to have more vapor for the first few hours. Can you post a picture?
