1970's finest Yanmar 1500 w/ FEL, 2014 Kubota L3800 w/ FEL & BH78
Hello forum. Let me start off by stating it is a outright honor to finally be able to join this forum. I have been a long time lurker. I finally pulled the trigger on a L3800 with loader and backhoe. I don't have larges acres of land but I do have some projects that I could like to do around the house. Where I live in pa we can get good amounts of heavy snow. Being a only child left me taking care of my parents, as well as some aunts who do not have anyone to help them. Multiple shoulder surgeries left me almost with out the use of my left arm and hand.
I originally went in to the Kubota dealer looking at one of those BX25D. As nice of those machines are it was just too small for my needs. My father owns a small plot of land down on the Potomac river in West Virginia. Part of taking care of it is setting up and tearing down the docks yearly, we have 3 sectional pieces each about 4 ft wide and 8 ft long weighing just under 800lb each. At the end of the season they are a absolute hell getting out of the water. The bx was just not strong enough to handle my needs. I was looking at the B3200 but again had reservations about lifting the dock system out of the water. The B3200 is rated at 1065lb at the pivot points. With a set of forks on them doing some quick math the FEL can hold maybe 600. It was just too close for comfort.
I wanted to be on the safe side so we went with the L3800.
Once I get some pictures I'll post them.
