    Leaky front rear

I'd be looking at the run-out on the shaft with a dial indicator. If the shaft is bent or the bearings are shot, the seal is doomed to keep failing.

Why a center pivot on the front axle?

There's no need for the complexity of suspension. But a rigid 4-wheel system only rests weight onto 3 points for any normal terrain (ala: not flat), so, the front axle pivot keeps the weight distributed to all 4 tires. Doesn't have to be the front axle. Look at any purpose built wheel loader...

    Leaky front rear

 what's a "front rear"? I can't get past the oxymoron of it😁, but, maybe you mean the driveshaft seal on the front axle?

Landpride fixed Bar Box Scraper (BB1260)

I disagree with this line of thinking that keeps getting repeated in this thread. Frankly, that box-blade is a light-duty implement that's arguably poorly designed expecting an unsupported strap to withstand the compressive loads created by the torque of the ripper teeth pivoting around the...

    Do I buy a BX1880 or BX2380?

Recent BX2380 purchaser checking-in with a similar sitation: a few acres and tiny farm to maintain. I didn't give too much consideration for the 1880 because I wanted the 60" mower and I was told it needs the extra power of the 2380. Also, it helped that the dealer had two 2380's ready-to-go...

    Inflation change for loaded tires?

This is only true if you are ALSO operating at MAX load rating of the tire, which I doubt you'll find on most tractor tires (it's not listed on the sidewall of my R4's). For the skinny front tires running a loader, I think it's sound advice. However, the load capability of the wider/taller...

    Inflation change for loaded tires?

Pressure should be the same, even when liquid filled. But, 40 PSI for a rear sounds way too high. The rule-of-thumb in every tractor manual I've read from Deere to Kubota shows a picture of a "detectable" outward bulge at the contact patch illustrating proper pressure for your operating...

    PTO question

Most brush-hogs are designed around the 540 RPM standard. Same for tillers. For rear PTO, that would be low speed, at the indicated engine RPM on the tach. I don't follow what you are asking here:

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Ha! One man's trash .... We did sell some of the smaller ones that we could barely fit into 10-gallon containers. I wont mention the price -- we were just happy to see them gone

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

The CO has an intense dislike of these neglected boxwood bushes that someone planted next to the house. The orders were given to make them go away and secondary mission would be to rehome them along the property line fence, but, the burn pile was OK too. The lil’baby tractor earned it’s room...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Found the limits of the HST pushing the blade in reverse. Turns out, peeling up sod is not exactly a trivial task. Running at high RPM doing some actual work got the exhaust system warm enough for the first time to “bake” the paint — just a faint smell getting run-in.

Too much play? Shim or not to shim on upper JBar grapple claws?

I think you should correct the errant pin and not sweat it — you are over thinking it. A washer’s worth of slop is probably a good thing. It’s certainly not “bend the piston shaft” territory.

Who's the likely buyer of a detached BX25 backhoe

Was perusing the local craigslist and stumbled on this ad for a bare BX25 backhoe attachement (no tractor). Can you actually buy a BX25 w/o the backhoe from the dealer? Otherwise, it seems like a tough sell as anyone with the tractor that has the compatible sub-frame already has the hoe. No...

    Lamenting not needing dream tractor

Similar story here: 3+ acres with a steep hill that would be nice to mow, regular FEL needs for tiny farming operation, but very occasionally would have liked to lift HEAVY things off a truck (>2000#). Decided the SCUT will do and punted on the outlier task. It’s been a couple of weeks now...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Picked up a 2 axis rear blade off craigslist for $300. 60” should be about right for my needs.

Best way to grease zerk fittings

I can’t help you with getting the right accessibility, generally, the best for getting the grease where you want it is to relax the tension/compression force on the joint so the fresh grease gets all around the load bearing surface. Also, a little goes a long ways for regular servicing —...

    Idling vs shutdown and restart

Huh. I had no idea. I suppose that’s a testament to how low-stressed (thermodynamically) a small displacement, naturally aspirated diesel can be.

Advice for looking at a used BX2380

Mower’s show up on CL all the time in my area of the PNW. Seems like a pretty reasonable deal. My BX2380, QA FEL, 60” MMM was $17.0 after rebates and no other budging beyond that from any of the nearish dealers.
