Got my tiller parked outside the garage and ready to use. Now I’m trying to decide if I need a quick hitch or a hydraulic tip link. I will eventually have both but only one is in the near future. Leaning more forwards the top link But haven’t found a 16” one in Canada yet. Princess auto has some on sale but the shortest one is 20”.
Crash277, Important!!! The quick hitch makes your implements sit back an additional 4" (or so). ***Make sure you get a top link that will still give you the range of motion you want WITH the quick hitch. Also, remember the PTO driveshaft needs to be able to handle the extra length, too!
Thanks! I checked out the shaft on my tiller when I did the spring maintenance. (It and my snow blower are both brand new and cut by the dealer for my machine) they cut off the absolute minimum they had to IOT make them fit. I haven’t checked my used finishing mower yet. But I do have a length of PTO shaft that the guy gave me when I got the mower and it’s plenty long enough to make 2 longer pieces for my equipment. The snow blower I doubt i would use on a QH, I know I won’t be using a hydraulic top link with it since I need the hydraulics for the chute.
For the top link I only need it for my box blade and drag blade. Maybe I should start a thread and do a poll to see what one everything thinks should be first lol
This kind of stuff scares me a little with the R4’s. I would not think twice doing the same thing with my MF 2wd with LBSB Ag tires.
The CO has an intense dislike of these neglected boxwood bushes that someone planted next to the house. The orders were given to make them go away and secondary mission would be to rehome them along the property line fence, but, the burn pile was OK too.
The lil’baby tractor earned it’s room and board and the boxwood was spared from the chainsaw. The root balls came out relatively intact — hopefully they live.
Would have like some more rear ballast for a couple of those, but slow and easy got it done safely.

Still too wet to do anything here. Did get it out to help with the yearly zero turn maintenance tho

You are killing me! I just spent a small fortune on 14 boxwoods that were only 14" in diameter
So, if the chainsaw and tractor/chipper do all the work, why 3 hours later I'm beat?

That was my original install. But stay tuned, I am redoing the set up since I added the back hoe and am going to finish the permanent wiring for the sprayer.
Moved a 1200 lb lathe across field and into future machine shop with my L3901 and bucket.

Yesterday, I moved a lot of topsoil 15 to 20 buckets full to a new pile and replaced where it was with random piles of dirt/fill left over from remodel/construction from years ago. I’m getting more used to the feeling of being offcamber in the tractor while still being safe.
Today, I put tubular nylon over my chain that I’m using for a “bridle”. I made it just long enough to drape down a bit into the bucket and attaches to my hooks on each side. After hearing a center hook can bend a bucket, I chose to avoid using a center hook but made a way to pull from both sides.
I haven’t found a hook that will go through the chain I’m using, but I order a 1/4 and hope the pin will fit through. In the mean time, I’m using a typical hook to hook on the center link with a couple of links and a slide hook that I can use with a clevis. That will allow me to use either a chain or nylon strap. Pictures soon.

Well.. used a 11,000 tow strap as to not damage the carriage. Found the center of gravity. Lifted it so the legs were about a foot off the ground. Went crossways through an unplanted corn field in a low gear to avoid the lathe swinging. My kid in the picture (his lathe) had a castor kind of box he put under the heavy end. Under that was a makeshift ramp of oak 4x4s and rough cut oak of varying thickness. I got the lathe that far and my kid had an engine lift to pull it through the side door to it's home.
I wasn't sure the FEL would work out for us since the lathe was about 100 lbs over limit. No issues.
The machine is a 1967 South Bend lathe.
Kid wants to do repairs and machine work as a side business.

Dropped the air pressure on the B1700 and mowed again. Much better. Will finish up mowing today out by the road

We did sell some of the smaller ones that we could barely fit into 10-gallon containers. I wont mention the price -- we were just happy to see them gone
