My “1 week of ownership” observations....

And, I thought 3PH was invented by someone that simply understands physics. I guess by today’s political tribalism expressed above, that means I look down on smart people?!? 🤷‍♂️

    Right to work!

Congrats on the delivery 🙌 I’ve stopped short of pleading with the wife to give the lil’ baby tractor a spin. She just can’t get over herself. The kids — now they love driving it and I have to be careful they aren’t too exuberant...

Amsoil — ya either love it, or hate it for the multi-level-marketing hype business model. I’m in the later camp...

    For warranty service...

I was told to do that when I bought mine a week ago. Dealer stated it was fine for me to do the maintenance, just save the receipts and log the date and hours at time if service.

Advice for looking at a used BX2380

I hope others chime in with more than the obvious: do a full functional check. Get it all the way up to temp, test everything possible. Check all the fluids and levels. With <50 hours, it’s not even due for the initial “break in” service yet, so, nothing to look at there. The warranty...

    Enough HP?

A lil searching found this 1170 evaluation — the 16’ version compared to your 12’ It states Heston recommend 75 HP (unclear if that’s overall or PTO). But reading through the very comprehensive report, their actual measured peak PTO HP delivered was only 30.1 HP. Scale that accordingly for...

    No tractor, still a Kubota

What was the “igniter material” placed in the plug on the cylinder head?

    Rear Remotes, Top/Tail

Can’t speak for the valving, but $1k for a pair of cylinders and hoses is probably double what you can source yourself. For example, Northern Tool has 16”x2.5” cylinders for $130. 4’ x 1/2” hoses are $25 each. All rated for 3k PSI. Add a few elbows and couplers and you’re easily under $250...

    HYDRO PRESSURE HIGH BX23S

Today I learned the BX’s PTO clutch is engaged through a hydraulic circuit — items 8,9,10 on the schematic above. No wonder I’m not able to “feather” the engagement. Thanks for posting that @Kubit

    Bought it!

Congrats! I fretted and searched for a couple of weeks before pulling the trigger just recently. My inly regret was not doing it >1 year ago.

    Idling vs shutdown and restart

Tractor is running, but you just stopped to wait for something else and you anticipate it’ll be X minutes until the next movement. What’s your personal threshold time for letting the tractor idle while waiting vs shutting it down and restarting? What’s your rationale for that number?

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Built new garden beds with the Mrs: Using the “lasagna method”: layer of compost, layer of top soil, and a thin layer of compost on top. Then weed mat, then mulch over the walking paths. Built half-dozen of them. More to do yet. FEL was a godsend moving all this material and digging up...

Another BX fuel filter mod ... only took five years!

Looks factory -- I love tinkering handy work that shows care and quality. Great job! Did yours have 2 in-line filters, and did you leave any of them in place? I'm really like this mod and don't think that the 2x in-line filters on my BX is an odd design choice considering the rest of the...

    Front Axle Oil Level

Come to think of it, it was the one fluid I didn’t validate after delivery. <runs to garage and back> My 2.0 hour BX2380 front axle level is just above the full mark. Thanks for the nudge to look at that 👍

    HYDRO PRESSURE HIGH BX23S

As you are probably aware, that’s well outside of the 1850psi spec. Supposedly those kit gauges are calibrated. You are the second reporter in a week(ish) to mention very high pressure— I wonder if their gauges are faulty.

    Illinois Rules of the Road

That’s harvest time. Back-n-forth from field to shed/packer/market. The only thing you stop for are sleep and weather.

    FEL slowly goes down.

Thermal expansion of hydraulic fluid would be a negligible change in volume compared to the displacement of 2” of cylinder movements.

What to include in BX2680 order

I’d be very curios what the weight of their setup is — the information on site doesn’t pass the smell test (22# for the frame & 95# each for a hollow fork?!?)

Yeah, that bracket is look'n a lil' skimpy there... might want to beef it up and add a couple more attach bolts  🤣

    Illinois Rules of the Road

No -- "implements of husbandry" do not require a divers license in most cases (there was some mention about fertilizer carriage being an exception) Much of that document is covering farm trucks. Many states have exemptions from CDL's for driving farm trucks, and it gets complicated as to...
