Farmer Revolt? - Right to Repair & JD

B-series 3 pt. lift height likely to be enough for this attachment?

Many sub-soilers have a replaceable shank with through bolts at the top of the shank. Any chance you could drill a set of holes lower down the shank to effectively raise it inside the frame in case you needed a little extra clearance? Also, small tractors will easily get hung up on rocks and...

Warming HST oil VS engine oil

Thanks for posting the chart -- I'd forgotten that from my initial reading of the manual. BXxx80 manual has one added row: Above 32F or 0C : At least 5 minutes Can't say as I've followed that prefectly outside of wintertime ops; more like a minute of idle, and then light load activities...

In frame honing of good bores.

I wonder how many of the naysayers here have actually cut open a used oil filter and really inspected it? Ever held a magnet under the unfolded pleats and seen the oil "dance" a little in the reflection? The oil filter is not there just in case a little external dirt finds it's way into the...

More mods. to much time on my hands.

I like the bucket skids for moving snow w/o scalping the gravel. Gonna have to sort that our for next winter...

    BX24 winter cab build

With the radiator fan intake pulling cold air from inside the cab (between the steering wheel and floorboard) do you get any warmth from that setup?

A reasonable alternative to 2 grease guns?

Bingo! Polyurea sounds like the way to go. Also seemed to imply the Kubota synthetic is a potentially better all-purpose grease with higher temp capabilities (if needed). Cost is of little concern since a tube will last me years. Thanks @Elliot for pointer! No doubt! Also, part of the...

    Tooth Bar Needed

Perhaps the corollary is: any ham fisted operator is capable of wrecking machinery, some machines easier than others.

A reasonable alternative to 2 grease guns?

If my understanding is correct, it seems good shop needs 2 grease guns: one w/ a moly based grease for high pressure applications like FEL pins, and one w/ a lithium based grease for roller/ball bearings on the mower deck. I'd like to just keep a single gun in the shop -- I use so little, it...

    Reduced Voltage at Glow Plugs

I assume when you measured individual resistances, they were all about the same value? Otherwise, I think you are on the right track with your diagnostics. Almost certainly a bad connection, nearly broken wire, or bad switch contacts. I'd continue tracing the wire to its source, and measure...

    Tooth Bar Needed

The conventional wisdom oft repeated is if you try to drag/push material with the bucket in a mostly dumped position, the traction force of driving attempts to roll the bucket, causing much more pressure in the dump cylinder(s) than the system was designed for and you wreck your dump...

Bucket forks vs quick attach forks mathmatics, guru's enter!

Truck and trailer were both fully loaded. We go through a couple of tons a year. Such a PITA to even need to think about a table, yadda yadda ... (Which, great minds and all -- I'm already in motion on similar thought (y))

Bucket forks vs quick attach forks mathmatics, guru's enter!

My biggest disappointment with the BX is the loader lift capacity. 900# sounds like quite a bit until you start accounting for all the actual usage case conditions: 1) the actual load is never at the pin 2) the bucket/fork weight is subtracted out 3) you want to go higher than some inches off...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

It's a Cosmo S500 that I picked up off craigslist for a little under $200. It'll hold 500# if I filled it to the top, but, it tends to "slosh" out in the bumps, so, I usually keep under that.

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Yes, my applications were timed to the calm just before rain showers came. Soil test says I need 2.9 tons/ac for a fully tilled application to ~6" depth. My plan is to put on a 1+ ton/ac for 2 years and then retest on the 3rd year to see if I need to keep going. No-till ag studies show that...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Primarily cost: powder is ~25% lower cost here. It may also be better for no-till, top-dressing applications like this. The idea that there's more uniform mobility into the thatch than a denser, more concentrated granual (debatable).

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Did the 50hour service on the BX. I went ahead with the revised service interval in the newest manual and changed the HST fluid and cleaned the screen. Pleasantly surprised w/ how clean the screen actually was -- just 2 flecks of grey sealant was about all there was. I'd seen some pictures of...

    Regular oil analysis?

There's 2 places oil analysis makes a load of sense: 1) airplanes -- the cost of failure endangers lives 2) "continuous" operational usage -- where downtime costs much more than a repair bill and maintenance intervals factor into economic decisions The rest of the cases are dubious and likely...
