Snow blower question

Check all bolts for tightness.
Also, my B2782B front mount blower's reduction gear bearings set screws tend to loosen. Check bearings set screws.
Grease all grease nipples and pto shaft body.
Lubricate drive chain(s) as per maintenance manual.

The PTO shaft at maximum extent should have at least 4 - 6" overlapping shafts., and should never bottom out at minimum length (max height raised) of snowblower.

I would add: use chain-specific lubricant on any drive-chain. And after many years of use, you may need to replace the shoes or cutting edge.

Depending on how much road salt the blower has seen some scraping and painting may be warranted. And if you deal with wet snow, an occasional spray of SnoShield, cooking spray or similar inside the chute helps keep the snow from packing into a jam.

Power chute rotation and/or deflection may add a bit if they are present. The specifics depend on if they are hydraulic or electric, factory or home-made. If they are not present, you may want to add them -- especially if you have a cab.

As mentioned, per my blower manual, I use winter grade chainsaw bar oil. Spec is to apply every 4 hours operation, which I regard as a max time between applications.
I keep a squeeze bottle of chainsaw bar oil in the tractor cup holder, and whenever stopping the blower and dismounting give it a squirt or two, always quietens things down some. I use under 1 litre (US quart) of bar oil a year on average.

Being so new, after some solid workouts check the drive chain slack is per spec.
Get 1/2 dozen each Drive Shaft shearbolts and Driveline shearbolts. I'm confident you'll thank me.

Brought it home this morning.

No manual so need to find one. He let it sit out back for almost 2 years. Just finished greasing it up. Use chain bar oil for now on the chain, which needed it. 2 zerks on each side of the auger popped off greasing it. Copper. Will replace them tomorrow with better ones. Here are some pictures of the shaft lowered then 2/3rds up.

will I need to cut the shaft or can I leave it and remember not to lift all the way up?

If it's too long, cut it so you don't forget.

So how do you cut it? Hack saw? Do you do like 1 inch at a time until it fits when raised all the way? My 1st time dealing with this so don’t want to end up buying another shaft.

You should be able to find the manual somewhere; it will be valuable information overall.

Think I found a manual. There are 2 versions based on the serial number. Will go look for that tomorrow, then download the right one. Appreciate your help

read the manual. Now I know what needs to be trimmed. Also saw I missed a few grease zirks. Will be calling the dealer for those shear bolts. Hopefully he has them in stock. Thanks everyone for your help.

If by "propeller" you mean one of the the u-joints? Where the PTO shaft connects to the tractor and blower?
without a picture of what you mean exactly, I'll guess it's this PTO driveline shearbolt at the implement end?

Sure, get a couple of them, too. Tractor protection in case the implement input shaft seizes up for whatever reason.

It's also important to avoid subbing in replacement bolts with standard bolts even if equal hardness rating. Most all shearbolts have a machined groove at their designed-for implement's shear point.

Adding that the direction the shearbolt is inserted from must also be correct in order to align mentioned relief grooves at the shear plane.

If you mean the protrusion on the piece with the splined hole that is bolted to the u-joint as shown in the pic above, that is the shear bolt as nbryan mentioned.
