Got a LT 15 last year and pretty much have it dialed in & ready.
Need a bigger machine for log moving etc. And need to build a proper saw shed so I can load mill from the side. In its current location I can only end load it which is a bit of a pita. Glad to see theres a few Sawmill guys here.

Nice thread and pictures Majicman. I have built a lot of buildings with rough sawn, full dimension lumber. Great to work with contrary to what many people think. People have become too soft nowadays to work with rough sawn lumber. They expect each piece to be exactly perfect with the next one and don’t want to hurt their hands with splinters. Around here, there are lots of houses and barns built with rough sawn lumber going back 100-200 years that will probably outstand many modern built homes. About 4 years ago I had a guy come in and saw out 4,400 bf of hemlock I cut to build my new maple sugar house. It was a lot of fun helping and my sugar house came out great.

I suppose that your "sugaring" is about done for this year?

I'll begin sawing a Red Oak job for kitchen cabinets, etc. tomorrow.

See, you need a guy with a sawmill to saw you a whack of lumber. ;)

Seriously I probably could put you in touch with a nearby sawyer if you need one.
Magicman thank you but a guy that goes to my church has a mill.

Long as we provide the wood he mills what we need at no cost. He is retired and loves to mill and help people.

I carry him the logs and provide the cut sheet, he does the rest.

I do pay him but it is hard too, he is stubborn.

Some huge Red Oak logs today. 39" butt and my sawmill is rated for 36". Guess that I could ask if that butt log makes my sawmill look little? ;)

Mostly 1X4's today.

I sawed a bit of beetle killed Pine today. 14 logs and a nice whack of mostly 2X4's & 1X12's.

What I sawed today is in the center. I had previously sawn the lumber stacked on either side

This is what the logs looked like when I arrived. Three Red Oak logs.

Looks can be deceiving because the butt log was 40" diameter.

We did a bit of salvage/sawing yesterday. This was a whack of Cedar logs that had been abandoned and needed to be handled.
IMG_8039.JPG

Saw the good and push the bad into a burn pile.
IMG_8041.JPG

The first 9' logs are ready to saw. I see a couple that had center rot are were discarded.
IMG_8046.JPG

I'll deliver this to a customer Monday morning.

I looked at these Red Oak logs yesterday.
IMG_8061.JPG

They have been laying there about a year which will not affect the heartwood.

Next week will be busy for this old boy!!
