My L35 handles the counterweight ok, but does groan. If my math is correct, a 55 gallon drum has a volume of appx. 0.27 cy. And a cy of concrete weighs in at 3000 lb/cy, so that figures to be about 817 lbs. plus all the steel I put in it. Maybe one of these days I can get the thing weighed...

Here is my counter weight. I haven't weighed it, but guess it weighs in at 800 to 900 lbs. I made it for at least 6 years ago and it shows no signs of cracking. I put a ball on the back to move trailers if needed. Please post pictures of your creation. Good Luck!

I'm not familiar with your setup and know very little about snowblowers, but your problem could be a gearcase that is overfilled. I had that happen to me on a bushhog. I overfilled the gearcase and it started leaking after several hours of use. Good Luck!

Also, check the fuel tanks vent. If it is stopped up, it could prevent fuel from flowing freely to the engine. Good luck and let us know what you find.

My guess is that you still have some air trapped in the line that extends the cylinder. Try to get the front end of the tractor up so that you can extend the cylinder fully. Then operate it a dozen times or more. I'm betting you get all the air out and it will operate as before. Let us know...

2grit, I have owned an L35 for almost 8 years now. It is a 98 model I bought 2 hand with 325 hours on it. It has about 1065 hours on it now and I've not had the problem you describe. It could be cause by the internal packing in the cylinder going bad. Let us know what you find. Good Luck!
