Kubota Convert with a few questions

srbnet, I don't believe anyone gave you an answer on your FEL question. The first FEL I saw was on a 30 hp White my Dad bought 20 years ago. I told him he wasted his money. Six months later (after using the machine) I told Dad I was wrong, that the FEL priceless. He since traded the White...

    Bent front wheel

Randyj, I've been watching your thread on the bent wheel and thought I'd comment. I have a trailer (6'X4') with 1950's Ford wheels. About 30 years ago when I lived in Mississippi, I wanted to get the tires balanced, but one wheel was bent as you described and couldn't be balanced as it was...

    best implement for road maintenance

Marty, My advice is to try out a 6-footer first, if possible. I know with my L35 (35 hp) gets loaded up when the blade is full of gravel. Maybe you could get a 5.5' model. When I bought mine, they only came in even foot lengths. They were available in 7 & 8 ft. lenghts too. I have the R-3...

    Welders and welding

Skeets, GWD is right on the money. I always wanted to be able to weld, so I found a night course at the local community college offering a course in practical welding. It was great because it taught me the basics and got me started. But practice makes perfect and a lot of it. I would look...

    Glow Plug/Battery issue

MD4310GST, I had the same issues with my L35 as SAM427 described and as you described in your first post. I found it was the glowplug controller that was bad and not the relay. Because I didn't have time to run down a new controller and had a scrap push-button switch, I hooked the ground side...

    L3650 Electrical Issue?

I had a similar experience with my L35 and was ready to rebuild the starter. Turned out it was the ground connection between the end of the ground cable and the tractor frame. After cleaning and reconnecting, it worked as it was supposed to. I've since added a second ground cable to another...

Newbie needs help, all advice welcome

Chuck, You can't go wrong w/ any Kubota you choose, except that you'll want more HP at some point and WILL regret not getting a FEL if you failed to buy one initially. I bought an L35 (comes with FEL & BH) because I knew I was going to build a house and therefore I dug the foundation, dug the...

    Hydraulic Whine-L35

Brady-yzf I had a similar experience with my L35. Turned out I did not have one of the rear hoses from the backhoe completey inserted together. Properly inserting the hoses together cured my problem. Hope this is simple fix for you.

    best implement for road maintenance

Randyj, I did get mine for a good price. It helped to live near a large metropolitan area (DFW) with lots of equipment dealers, paid cash and picked it up myself.

    Help with L 35 age

I meant to look up the serial # on my L35 and keep forgetting. I bought my L35 used in 2003 and was told it is a 98 model. I decided to get proof it is a 98 and was told by the Kubota dealership that the "official" year of the tractor is based on the date it was sold when new. I found out...

    best implement for road maintenance

Logan, I tried using a box blade to maintain my gravel driveway and could not get it smooth enough. I always seemed to end up with a lot of "washboarding". I broke down and bought a "grading scraper". It is similar to a box blade but has 2 angled cutting blades that stick about 1 or 2 inches...

    M7040 w/ LA1153 loader attachment 2006

Are the rams on your tilt cylinders bent? My Dad's M4030 w/ a Bushhog FEL started operating real slow at the mid point of tilt. I discovered I'd bent the rams while using it to load logs using a set of forks. I fixed the problem by purchasing & installing 2 new tilt cylinders from Surplus...

    B21 rear end noise

I've been following this thread very closely because a similar experience w/ my L35. I can't say how close the B21 is to the L35. On my L35, I was pushing a tremendous load with it in 4WD with the backhoe on and fluid in all 4 tires. The obstacle wasn't moving, so I was hitting it when the...

    L35 Glow Plug ?

Thanks for the suggestion. I used the tractor over the Thanksgiving Holiday and noticed the glow plug light come on and stayed on one day, then the next, it worked as designed, and yesterday, it worked correctly part of the time and then lighted up on its own as I was operating the tractor. As...

    L35 Glow Plug ?

I checked the wires to the ignition switch before cranking the engine. Still good. Fired up the engine and the glow plug light stayed on (wire from glow plug relay to glow plugs still unplugged). I then used it to move some dirt for 30 minutes and the glow plug light stayed on the entire...

    L35 Glow Plug ?

I checked all wires terminated on the ignition switch. All are protected with a rubber cover that appear to be in good shape. I did try wiggling each one and they seemed tight. But when I turned the switch on (wire still disconnected from the relay going to the glow plugs) to test whether or...

    L2950 starting problem

I had a similar problem w/ my L35. To make a long story short, it was the ground connection to the frame that was corroded. Cleaned up the ground cable & frame and it worked normally. I've since added a 2nd ground connection to the frame. Hope this helps!

    L35 Glow Plug ?

New member here and I really enjoy and appreciate these forums. I have a '98 L35 w/ 890 hrs. that has a glow plug problem. I noticed while mowing after a few hours that the glow plug light was lighted. I checked the glow plug circuit and it was energized everytime the light was on. It...
