Finished up this job over the weekend. Took me a long time to get the first side disassembly figured out, then the second side was quick and easy. Not much required for special tools. I did press a few parts gently, but a gentle hammer could do most of it. There are internal and external...
No idea if L175 and L185 are similar or not in this regard, but your post reminded me of this thread from last year.

Up to you, no clear answer. I weld on my stuff when needed, haven't had any problems. Pickup, tractor, motorcycles, mowers, etc. I always ground on the same part if possible. Doesn't mean you won't have troubles though. Your call.
Thanks Wolfman, at first glance that version looks better than the WSM that I bought from Messicks a few years ago. Your version has more text describing the work than mine does. Between the two I should be able to get it figured out.
I got parts on order and should get into it this week.
My front axle final drives have finally given up. Time for new bearings and seals, hopefully the gears are still serviceable. I haven't taken it apart yet.
L245DT. Can anyone tell me whether or not the fixed castings need to come off of the axle tube ends, or do I only have to remove the...
I am particular about how they are actuated, prefer a paddle switch to be specific. Don't care much for sliders, but you may. Consider how it's going to work for you.
Looks like a nice one! I would not sweat the exhaust, mine also has a hole in the manifold but I welded an elbow onto the top anyway. Give yours a look.
Looks like a good start, but I would encourage you to ditch the straps and add some means of clamping them to the bucket as far rearward as possible. Even with clamps, it doesn't take much of a side load to get them to rotate out of square. Yours being exceptionally long will make this a...
I don't think the cutting edge necessarily has to be curved, but it does need to be sharp in order to peel. I'd consider a replaceable piece of flat bar of ~1/2" or so thick that is back beveled to create the cutting edge, similar to an old fashioned hand plane.
I find it ironic that you voice your concern over flipping the tractor and you have posted pics showing your tractor at work with the ROPS folded down.
What does "multiple extended glow plug activation" mean?
What kind of ambient temps are we talking about?
How long are you firing them and do you know if they are working?
Have you verified that the decompression lever is not making any valve contact?
You have to read the fine print Wolfman, dealers still charge you tax, shipping, handling, etc. I think mine was in the same ballpark as kubotasan pricewise. You could probably haggle on the shipping, I was just glad to get a ROPS period.
The way you have the chain rigged puts tremendous load into the upper section running between the hooks. This is a case where the side loads on the hooks is actually much greater than the tensile load in the single chain your vise grips are hooked to. Run it on one hook or a long loose...
