    my home-made rock bucket

I'm pretty sure your bucket sides are 3/16", with a 1/4 X 2-1/2 edge. Frankly, a 1/4 X 4" strap from the pipe top to the rock point would give you the strength OK. I was thinking heavier for the boomerang shape. If you have ballast, you'll have about 2 ton of tractor pushing into this. The...

Used Bx2230 going prices? Looking to buy

Older BX tractors are going on EBAY for about $10 grand, with loader and mower. Figure about $150 for a new seat, about $100 to get a new light. The hours work out to about 135/year; three or four acres of lawn maintenance, and clearing a driveway. I'd probably offer $7500, if I was in the...

    Small L or Big B?

If you want gears, the B2320 is the only option in their current lineup. You should move fast. Those of us that like gears are herded toward HSD, whether we like it or not... They are still offering gears across the L range. I got rid of my R4 tires, and went to R1s. A big improvement in...

    my home-made rock bucket

I seem to dig and move a lot of rocks, usually in the 150-800 pound range. The smaller ones don't have a particular problem staying in the bucket; for the big ones I keep a couple of 1-1/2" ratchet straps handy, to stop them from rolling out, particularly until the bucket is full curled. With...

    L185 3-point hitch question

When I upgraded from my L185 to the newer L3200 I was surprised to find that the lower arms were about 4" longer than on the L185. I had to get a 4" PTO extension to make my tiller fit. The L3200's R4 tires were about the same diameter as the L185's R1s. So, I'd get longer arms if I were you...

    3 Point Lift Handle

There is a feedback adjustment on the left side where the lift arm attaches to the spline shaft coming out of the tractor body. Perhaps it worked loose while that power rake was pulverizing the field. Check to make sure everything is tight there.

I have to admit I really like them, too! Hodge is your guy.

Excited & Upset about new B3300SU

Heck of a way to ruin a great tractor day. That is a really nice tractor! I'm sure they will make it right. I'd call and leave a message or email with the dealer and maybe Kubota service, take a picture or two, and go ahead and use it for the weekend.

    Brush hog blade-nut access

Stubbyie mentioned mowers that have an access hole to get to the blade nut. I decided to put one on my old Montgomery Ward 60" mower. The nut is 1-1/2", the socket is about 2" OD, and the hole saw I used is 2-1/2". The mower deck is 1/8", and I had some junk 1/8" plate lying about, so I used...

    MX5100 and Landpride 12' batwing

Yep, that's a lot of weight, even worse with a CG about 5' behind you. Even with the FEL it is going to be a lot. Agri Supply has a Kodiak 10', 2-blade mower that weighs about 1460 lbs - $4000; something to consider. It is a big step up from 6'. You should be able to handle that without the...

    MX5100 and Landpride 12' batwing

I wouldn't hesitate to put an 84" brush hog, or a 96" finish mower behind it. I often wonder where they get their limitations.

    B21 for 20K?

I don't know where you are getting the 30-40K price of a new one - maybe new and BIG? A new small L with a loader will be about $20K. Most large B's will be about the same, or a bit less, at your local dealer, again with loader. If you are going to spend that much $$, go new. You can usually...

    L3800HST price check

I think that is a good price for the L3200HST. Go for a package deal with implements, but don't waste a lot of time worrying. I don't think they will be around much longer.

    Small L or Big B?

Traction is a function of weight and tire diameter. The L's win both, generally by a wide margin. If your future finish mower is to be a MMM, then you will want the B. For pretty much anything else, the L is more tractor. Of course, if you are keeping the L4600, the B series fills the bill...

Land pride 48" finish mower for bx25

I'd put the $1400 into a good rear blade for snow removal. You want swing or offset, and rotation. 60" would be a good match for the tractor

    B21 Quits working

There is no "easy" answer for an intermittent problem. You will have to check every connection and tug on every wire, looking for a bad crimp or loose lug. Since you suspect the fuel solenoid, that is a good place to start. Get a voltmeter, and look for the source of low voltage.
