I found a used BX2230 and i'm sort of in the market for a SCUT. I had a small mitsubishi with a little front end loader I just sold. Can't afford new, so looking at used market in the 6-8K range.

I found a 1200 hour 2005 or 2006 BX2230 with a front end loader, Hyd dozer/snow blade and a 60" mid mount mower on turf tires. Tractor runs great, some of the lights don't work (flashers), and headlights on all the time. like the switch doesn't work. The head lamp lens is cracked and the seat it torn. I spent about 2 hours mowing with it and everything seems up to snuff. What kind of money should I be paying or whats going prices for something this age with 1200 hours?

Older BX tractors are going on EBAY for about $10 grand, with loader and mower. Figure about $150 for a new seat, about $100 to get a new light.
The hours work out to about 135/year; three or four acres of lawn maintenance, and clearing a driveway.
I'd probably offer $7500, if I was in the market. He might laugh.

You say you cannot afford a new one.............
I new one without the blade will be around 16K - Financed at 0% for 5 years.......that will be about 275/month.........can you afford that? That will have a two year warranty on everything (maybe not hoses and tires) a damn nice seat and all the lights work too! :

How would you drop $8500 for this used one? I am being the devils advocate, if you had to go to the bank and lets say borrow $5000 for the used one(you had cash for the $3500), at 7% for 2 years, you gonna pay $225 a month......50 bucks more gets a new one!

I did this WHOLE things about 14 months ago, I almost bought a terramite for about 5K that leaked more oil than the exxon valdez! Thank God someone else wanted it more than I did! I bought a new Kubota, and I have NEVER thought twice about it...........0% ( sure they make their money) but piece of mind and WOW what a machine!

Just my two cents, but those two cents are happy cents !:D

If you have 6-8K to buy a used BX, then that would make a heck of a down payment on a new one. The thing is that you have to use ALL of that money for the down payment. It's very tempting with 0% to lighten up on the down payment. Then again, you put that tractor through it's paces and came up only with minor issues. It looks pretty good. Check here for current ASKING PRICES to compare.

I'd probably try for the used one first. If that didn't work out, I'd visit a dealer, look at used first, then consider new. Be patient.

I've looked at the new route… I can't afford another payment right now. I would love a new one that someone hasn't abused. Wants and needs are two different things

I have my BX2230 for sale for $10,000. I have many extra's such as rear remote, Quick Hitch , Special Lighting and skid plate.

But it is hard to beat 0% on a new one. I have all kind of people who would buy it but no money. I had one guy who want to take it and make payments. I told him to go to bank. Said Bank would not give him the money so I said why should I!!!!!
