    Homemade Plow

As long as the blade is square, float works OK, pretty well. When the front end picks up, however, the blade is angling down, and the cutting edge is digging in more aggressively. To get any control, you have to pick up the blade a bit. I use gauge wheels instead of skids, and tilt the blade...

    Homemade Plow

I built a loader-mounted front snow plow - not as fancy as yours, and not rotatable. The problem you will run into is that the pushing force lines up to the top of the loader mount, by the steering wheel. When you push, the tractor picks up the front wheels, so you lose both traction and...

    Tire Ballast

I also have wondered about this. I think it has to do with the cushion in the tires - if you fill them you lose most of it. Without that cushion, every clump or rock you hit is a heck of a jolt to the front axle drive and steering parts. SOMETHING has to give! Better it be the tire... Front...

    L245DT rear hydraulics don't work

FEL is the front end loader. The only thing that makes sense to me is that the 3ph valve is shot, or the lever simply is not turning it. Possibly the feedback linkage is not actually turning its half of the valve - physically pick up the arms, and make sure the linkage is doing its job... I...

Where to buy pull apart fittings?

The fittings are DIXON, 3/8". Your local hydraulics/hose supplier should have them. It is never a bad idea to pull one of the fittings off and take it with you, or at least take a close-up picture of the male fitting with your camera or phone and take that. My local suppliers charge about 1/2...

Choices L3800 DT or L3901 HST

I wouldn't think twice about 10 hours. On 30 acres, probably either of the old models will work fine. I'd steer clear of the 3901 for a while, personally. My take on the comments in here is that the tier 4 is OK if you are working the tractor, not so good if you are just poking along.

Counter Weight bar Welded to Rake

Great idea, but the weight is awfully high if you have hilly land. On the level, it looks GREAT!!!

    L245DT rear hydraulics don't work

The Kubota hydraulics are open center, normally flowing. Since the FEL works, I'd be looking at the 3ph control/feedback valves. Perhaps the O-rings in the valve are shot. Another possibility is that the feedback is jammed all the way up - that should stop the piston from trying to move. Are...

    Spacers

On the L3200/L3800 you HAD to have spacers to fit chains on the R4 tires. Kubota's spacers were only about 7/8" - they did not significantly improve stability. I went to 2-1/2" spacers from thetrackscompany.com (an ebay seller) for about the same $$ and was delighted with the improvement. I...

    Turf to Ag or Industrial

Your owner's manuals or tractordata.com should tell you what size ag or industrial tires were original equipment. Your dealer should get you a mounted set for the 3130 for about $1600 -- the 3600 will be a handfull more. Tuckertire.com (they sell on ebay) can beat that by a couple of hundred...

    L series loader question

I'm in the same boat with my L3200 - with loaded rears and 140 lbs/side wheel weights, the FEL will easily put the back end in the air! I put 600+ lbs on the 3ph before doing any loader work. I wouldn't particularly want any more capacity in the FEL - I think the stock loader is borderline too...

    Easy backhoe removal and storage

Great idea and implementation with the wheel jacks!! Even on concrete sometimes that last 1/2" can take an hour!! Good job!!

Discovered I have two different size front tires

In addition to the difference in diameter/RC, the 8.3x16 tire has a higher load rating, which is important with a FEL. I'm sure the dealer will swap the right tire for you.

    New Kubota Owner/ L3901HST w/LA525

Welcome to the forum! Do keep us posted on the quirks - if any - with that 3901. An remember that kids and tractors don't mix! Always leave the brake on, and the loader and implements on the ground... It only takes them a second to do the unthinkable.

BX, B, or L? Help please!

If you are serious about loader work, get the L; a 3200 or 3800 if you can still find one. It is about 700 lbs more tractor than the B series, or a thousand lbs more than the BX. The new B's have the same loader capacity as the L3200/3800, but smaller tires and that 700+ lbs less weight...

l245-dt drives in neutral in gear locks up and dies

You might check with your local dealer, if he has been around for a while. When the L185/245 was new, they had a problem with the transmission jamming in a gear. At the time - late 70's - it was a recall, and the dealer fixed whatever was wrong for free. This sounds like the same problem...

    Considering a B2650

That's a heck of a nice looking rig!! Don't be surprised about wanting extra weight on the rear wheels - most of us having L3200/3800 tractors want 600-1000lbs ballast on the 3ph if we are doing any loader work...

    Price check - M4500

According to tractordata.com it was built in 1978-1985, has 55 gross hp, and weighed about 4500 lbs w/o the loader. My old L185DT was the same era, and was/is a heck of a tractor. But, it is 30+ years old; declared obsolete by Kubota. Your only hope for major parts is the used market. Because...

restoring an old L245DT - tyre issues

If you have a loader, you want at least 6-ply rating tires -- preferably 8-ply. If you don't know the brand, virtually any name brand 7x16 R1 tire should be of suitable diameter, and work fine.
