    Conflicting tire size specs.

My L185DT had 6-14's on the front and 9.5/9-24's rear. Go with what you bought.

    How Much Weight?

The CG of the FEL is out in front of the front axle. With the FEL attached, you should not need any additional weight. If you do, put weight in the bucket. When you are comfortable with the tractor use a bit more than that on the mounting bracket. If you have removed the FEL you can use up to...

    land levels size

I'm using an old heavy duty 6' blade, and usually wish it was a 7'. The tractor can handle it. I guess it depends on what you are doing, and the condition of the soil.

New L3301 HST comes with questions

The widest setting of the rear tires gives you an overall width of about 66". That is about the same as the FEL bucket width; something to shoot for. My first Kubota had a wider stance than the bucket width, and it was always a problem. The widest setting becomes the most stable on the side of...

    Chain or gear drive tiller?

I have a 40+ year old Howard Rotovator that is gear drive. Last year I tore it all down to overhaul it, but could find nothing wrong! All of the drive train parts were like new. Kudos for gears!! A wet chain would probably have done as well, however. And Russel King's idea of changing...

    Newbie here needs advice between a L185DT & B2150

I had an L185DT for about 35 years, and was forever amazed by it. I believe it has slightly larger diameter rear tires, making theoverall traction be about the same. I ran a 42" Howard Rotovator tiller, and never felt I was lacking horsepower. When I put the PTO in 3rd (about 1000 rpm) it...

    Need weight on the front

I tried to swap the front wheels on my old L185DT, and nearly broke my wrists trying to drive and mow a clumpy field. It is very hard on the front rolling gear. My experiment lasted about an hour and a half... Power steering will isolate the shock from the driver, but it is still there on the...

    Stainless King Kutter, Brush hog

If I had an L4600 I'd get at least a 72" mower; probably an 84". They will really cut down on your mowing time and fuel consumption. As you mentioned, I'd also rather have an over-rated gear box than something right at my tractor PTO hp. Like virtually everyone else, I'd not be concerned with...

    LA525 loader installation

You will have to run the bucket up and down a couple of times, and exercise the wrist action. All of the tractor and implement valves are open center, so just running the tractor bleeds the lines.

Where to buy Colored Hydraulic Cap and Plug

My Kubota dealer has all the colors and sizes hanging on the pegboard wall. I personally like them - they keep things clean while disconnected.

    Ballast box (chained?)

When the 3ph is all the way down the cylinder is fully collapsed, so there is no real strain back there. You are leaving a significant weight on the real axle and bearings, however. It shouldn't be a problem but if you are concerned, lay a couple of 2x4's under it before you set it down, to...

    Tractor wheel painting made easy

What a nice timely tip! I've been wondering how best to paint mine - both front and back. Thanks for the pic's!

    3200 vs 3800??

I have the L3200DT. My reasoning was that the smaller engine was less likely to tear up the tractor. Since neither tractor has a record of tearing itself apart that appears to have been a false worry. So far the only time I've seen that I could use more horses is when I'm driving on out hilly...

Thanks very much! I just ordered one from ebay!

    L225

You should have plenty of power for a 5' brush hog. For driveway maintenance I'd get a 6' rear blade. And I'd also be looking on Craigslist for a 2nd hand tiller, rather than plows, discs and harrows.

    Back Blade Size

I used a 72" RHINO blade for 35+ years with an L185DT, without ever having a problem. It is very good for snow plowing! Tilt is too extreme for most uses, unless you think you may someday do ditching. I've only used it once in the time I owned it, for a neighbor. For crowning a road, etc...

    Ballast box (chained?)

I agree with Eric on this - you are not going to hurt a thing, but set it on the ground when the tractor is shut down. At least half the reason for this is to prevent 2 neighbor kids from coming out of nowhere, and have one of them lower the ballast on the other's foot... Welcome to OTT and the...

    Shortening Back Blade

I have a 6' Rhino blade that I used for 30+ years with my L185DT. Never had a lick of trouble with it. As Iowan said, they get narrow quick when you angle them to push snow/dirt to the side. The Rhino has a swing arm to get the blade well over to the side - handy because you want the berm...

Box Blade and Banked Curves + some

Since you are renting, consider a grader blade rather than a box blade. The blades (2) are angled, and only about 5-6" tall, so the gravel can roll over them. And the box sides are about 4' long, so they tend to level out bumps and dips. I use a rear blade with a gauge wheel, that acts like a...

    7.2-16; 12.4-24 Ag to Industrial????

Tucker Tires as recommended by Wolfman are an outstanding option. You should first list your tires on Craigslist and here on the forum - there may well be someone out there that would love to make a trade! I had industrials. I bought AG tires from Tucker, then sold my industrials on...
