As for balancing BH blades, Its easier than you think, Just have a good scale, and weigh each blade. Then grind a little more off'n the heavy one, till it matches the light one...:D:D

The thin one is likely a shim. Use it, if you have had the head surfaced, or if it already has one there, when you take the head off. JMHO...:D:D

I've seen it done before, I'd follow the lift linkage, and figure a way of accessing the linkage, with a rod or cable control, it's cheaper and easier than putting hyd components in...:D:D

Locknlube does have its place, yet there about 2% of grease fittings that are unreachable, with it. Sometimes the lube accessory kit is priceless...:D:D
