I have a L185 DT that I recently purchased and it won't go into 1st gear on the PTO. Goes into 2nd and 3rd fine. Have bushogged in 2nd and does fine but don't won't to continue to run that high rpm. I don't see any post with this problem but am wondering if anyone has ever seen this. Really don't won't to split tractor if I don't have to. I have pulled the lid but can't see enough to tell what is binding. It's like it is hitting something solid. All drive gears high and low work fine. This forum is very informative
Thanks in advance

With cover removed, should be able to see if linkage/forks are bent or damaged. May be able to engage gear with cover off using a pry bar. Need to determine if its a shifter or gearbox issue.

Welcome to the forum. Gotta take that top off, and do some studying on what gozinta where. Might just have a misaligned gate on #1, might be worse than that... Since #1 gets the most wear, could have a burr somewhere on that shaft or gear. Get some pics up, someone here will spy what's goin on...:D:D

Thanks for the welcome! I will take some pics didn't have time to study tonight. Another issue I found is that the hydraulic screen behind cover was not there spring filter nothing. Makes me wonder if there was issue and someone just removed. FEL seems to be a little slow and had an issue where front nor rear lift would lift once let sit and tried the next day and still nothing day 2 of sitting and worked with no issue, I was using grader box spreading dirt ant the time. I was expecting clogged screen but that's not the case. Should I just leave the screen out-probably not the right move just looking for others thoughts.

The screen and other parts are still available and not too expensive. I would replace it for sure.
