    Proper way to bench-test starter?

100 td, your suggestion is brilliant. While not Shaun's model, my L3800 lists a starter at US$677. I realize that there are other options for much less. The brushes list at $2 each. With a little work those starters don't have to be scrapped.

    Radiator?

Pretty sure Wolfman has nailed it. Will need to flush radiator and engine block to see if any crud or deposits in the coolant system. Make sure not to put tap water back in which will drop out particles to wear the new pump. You'll need to temporarily remove the thermostat to do that.

    Radiator?

Hard to tell from a picture. Smell is the best test. Open radiator cap and see if coolant is down. You may have to dry everything and look for a leak with engine on for short time. How old are the radiator hoses?

L3800 Sitting Dead In the Field - Help...

Always use preheat on a cold L3800. 90 F is cold. What fires the diesel is a hot engine plus the heat of compression. When first starting, the engine is cold and needs to be warmed at the combustion chamber to ignite the diesel. The minimum time for preheat on a L3800 is 2-3 seconds, longer if...

    Proper way to bench-test starter?

Shaun Can you read the manufacturer and model from the starter? Maybe we can find a rebuild kit.

    L3800 HST Shift Problem

Shifting sounds normal. Sometimes it takes a little pressure on the HST pedal to get lined up. The background on the sight glass is bright white. If overfilled, the fluid is somewhat clear but the background will not be bright white. If the tractor had its 50 hour service, then both hydraulic...

    L2950 Temp gauge reading

Possible you're pushing hard with 26 HP off the PTO. Don't know how thick you're going thru. The fact that the temp is steady says that the cooling system sheds heat, but not enough to prevent temperature rise. If the liquid side of the heat exchanger is OK, then it must be on the air side. Or...

    L2950 Temp gauge reading

Knightgang, the key is that it is new to you. And it may have been run hard and put up wet. Once you verify that the temperature gauge is really working right, then I would suggest that you go over the cooling system. The likely cause is not enough air flow through the fins. If you have to...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Getting ready for fall, so fluids and filters change. Pulled radiator out and soaked overnight in water and dawn. Fine plant fibers washed out with the low pressure sprayer and fins now completely clean and open. Looks to be at least an annual chore as the gunk was not coming out with before...

    l3800 hydraulics

It is hard to tell. But the background is a white. Once the fluid is halfway then you can see the level. Overfilled it is difficult to know. One of those things that you have to see it right before you can diagnose it.

1979 B7100DT Delivery Valve Torque & Low Oil Pressure

This is way above my pay grade, but there may be a Technical Service Bulletin on this. It may be that the plug material was changed, and that the plug(s) are to be tack welded in. Good idea to check on that first. Loctite requires a completely clean surface. It also does not do well with heat...

    Kubota L3830D front wheel advice

http://www.kubota.com/part/partsList.aspx may get you there. If you can't get to the dealer, then Messicks and Coleman have mail order. You will also need a WSM (WorkShop Manual) for any adjustments and setups. These can be ordered through your dealer or the above mail order places.

    starter relay

Looking on the left side of the tractor, find the main fuse panel. Right side of fuse panel, 2nd down from top, a 5A fuse marked Starter Relay. Pull that fuse and you remove power to the Starter Relay. If there is still power to the Starter terminal ST, then the Starter Relay has likely failed...

    starter relay

To get to the L3800 Starter Relay remove the steering wheel, rear bonnet, and meter panel. A group of 4 electrical devices, and the starter relay is third from the left side. Battery voltage applied between terminals 2 and 4; then ohm terminals 1 and 3 for zero ohms. (Starter Relay) If you...

    L4060 50 hour filter change

There are some other threads which discuss putting suction pressure at the hydraulic fill point to hold the liquid in. The other way is to have super-clean containers to catch the spill, for putting back in. When you're the one paying for the fluid, any spill is too much.

    Kubota ZG2354 Battery Charging Problem

    1) Check for good connections to ground at battery cable and harness grounds. 2) Check alternator output for battery charging. Getting both voltage and current out? 3) Battery marginal - will take a charge but rapidly discharges just sitting. Not a lot more to worry about.

L3800 surges. Looses power then regains power

More details might get a better reply. How many hours on tractor? Hours since air filter replaced - or within a year? Fuel filter cleaned - or replaced? Does this with every tank of fuel, or just recent? Fuel from 5 gal can or 500 gal tank? Tractor kept in open or sheltered? Smoke is black...

    L3200 Fuel Tank Removal

Open bonnet; Disconnect the battery negative; disconnect head lights and wiring; remove snap pin on damper; remove the screws on the back hinge. Bonnet off. Disconnect return fuel pipe on tank; remove 2 screws holding tank. If it were me, I would drain the tank and try to fish out the...
