    A really bad day

Here's a link posted 20 years ago about a similarly broken L4610. The top corner of the trans housing gave way when a huge load went into the top 3-point link. In that case there was a logging winch on the back, with the large log load drawn up tight. It was thought the break happened when...

Just bought an M4500DT project tractor

Funny thing - I've always had an eye open for older Kubotas to bring back to normal service - and with the passage of time I seem to have collected several ! The L3250's 9-yr paint job has the customary faded patina of an older machine, the L5450 is always ready to blow lots of snow (haven't...

    Mystery random grinding sound

Good doing !! Its surprising the water pump bearing could be that worn without coolant spewing out too. Its testimony to the design priorities of Kubota - engine preservation is at the top, failure of a water pump bearing doesn't immediately take out its seal. High build quality is the...

    L2250 rear main seal leak

Try taking out the top filler cap on the valve cover - put some bunched up rags around the hole so oil doesn't spatter everywhere. That should relieve any pressure building in the crankcase. Unless the oil pan is over-full, there shouldn't be a lot of oil pushing out the main crank seal (its...

M5700 location of bypass valve? lost 3 pt and loader hydraulics

The M5700 has a 2-chamber pump, front for loader and 3-point, rear for steering. Except for using the same reservoir, the two systems are independent. Some models have a "bypass block" which diverts flow to the loader, but not all. For both loader and 3-pt to be affected, coupler somewhere...

    L345DT front pto help

Treating an orchard or vinyard with a moving sprayer uses calibrated delivery of expen$ive materials. Mowing simultaneously will likely not be productive, even on flat ground. Either the mowing or spraying will need to be revisited for correction. I once thought that having two mowers mounted...

Unable to engage 4 wheel drive

On these models there's a 48T gear ( 21 ) inside the bottom gear case that slides back and forth to engage the front drive. The propeller shaft couplings don't slide except for tiny clearance at the roll pins that position them. If water gets into the tube it can rust the little splines in...

Leak from flywheel housing on L355ss

Just noticed this thread - may I ask is this machine a recent acquisition? Has it been leaking a long time? Or did it just start? Diagnosing oil leaks near this location on this model is tricky - Have you needed to add oil to the trans? or is it the power steering that's getting low? They...

Unable to engage 4 wheel drive

The picture is definitely a L355ss. The clue in the pic is the pto lever - the shuttle machines have a single-speed pto only L and N - without the 2nd speed H. Regardless of model, a common cause of 4wd loss on these models is worn out coupling splines on the propeller shaft running forward...

    L5030HST Tires and Lead/Lag

I didn't find a list, but I found "tooth counts" for my Kubota's by looking at the tractor cutaway drawings in the WSM for the model, and the online factory parts list for that model, which usually includes the tooth count for each gear. Following the power flow from the engine to the wheels...

    Kubota M7060HDC -- Steps

I've adapted non-original steps to a few tractors - starting with used parts - sometimes from eBay. Here's a current eBay example of a welded set of steps that might serve as a starting point to be altered, adapted to fit. There are several pages of "preowned tractor steps" listed. Good luck...

    L2350 leaking tank

On older models (like L345) Kubota used a port like this for a see-thru fuel tube sticking up , acting as a level indicator - you could maybe put a new one on and run it to a visible location? It could be teed into the overflow hose so it isn't left open.

    l2850 Electric problem

The L2250, L2550, L2850 & L3250 were produced from 1985-1992. The L2800 came later 2004-2010. The factory manual for the L2850 shows this wiring diagram (without yellow highlight)

    l2850 Electric problem

Symptoms sound like the FUSIBLE LINK - in the wiring near the starter. When it gets corroded inside (or blown) it shuts off a lot of electrical equipment. It looks like this. To test it, substitute a piece of house wire, made into a U-shaped jumper. Push it into the socket and see if things...

L2501 - broke the exhaust manifold

I completely agree brazing can be a great solution - especially if it doesn't have to be full strength. My Ford 8N's drawbar hitch broke out once, draining out the transmission oil. I'd been pulling my orchard sprayer which had serious tongue weight. Bouncing around the orchard was too much...

L2501 - broke the exhaust manifold

Without getting too far into Metalurgy 101, suffice it to say that cast iron's most identifying trait is it has WAY too much carbon to form anything strong - like steel for instance which is between 0.2 and 0.95 percent carbon. Yes, the whole vast worldwide steel industry lives between zero and...

L2501 - broke the exhaust manifold

If you're in the woods a lot maybe a low-routed exhaust would be an answer. Another idea would be to cut the muffler pipe above the bolted flange and install a "weak" coupling of thin tubing. It could even be an inside slip-over. Something that can buckle more easily, sacrificing itself and...

    Mystery random grinding sound

I agree it sounds like a dry throw out bearing. Try adjusting the clutch so it has about 1-1/2" of free play at the top. If the pto won't disengage, try 1-1/4". Post back if adjusting it affects the noise.

Trying to get a ROPS for an L4150

Operating on sloped land can be tricky - the high side wheel can go over a rock hiding in the grass causing sudden upthrust. Wide-front axle machines are less prone to it but not immune. With some experience you'll go by your butt - always the best guide.

L305DT rescued from the salvage yard

So I'm assuming of the two you were looking at you bought the more local one? Remember - everyone here likes pictures - and you have some great ones of this nice L3454DT!
