Looking for an easy access for jump starting and charging

To charge or jump start, connect positive to the post on the starter, negative to any nearby bolt head. Presto.

    L2550 starting problem

Try connecting a jumper cable to the negative battery terminal with the other end on an un-painted bolt head - like on the loader frame. On tractors getting some years on them, the negative cable gets pretty corroded inside and at the ends - if the jumper works, clean or replace the negative...

Trying to get a ROPS for an L4150

Seat belts in a car retract in a collision so an airbag can protect them. A tractor roll-over happens slower but the theory is the same - keep the operator in a protected location.

    Tractor Wheel Database Somewhere?

The industry terms "Transference Ratio" and "Inter-Axle Ratio" address the whole lead/lag 4wd thing. The question is how much difference is best. On tractors with "front wheel assist" 2-6% front "lead" is common practice. From any models parts lists its possible to follow the gear tooth...

Trying to get a ROPS for an L4150

Hey sticknrudder - Great new avatar with the fam! Little guy will be driving the tractor before you know it ! Good that it will have its ROPS - maybe add a seat belt too? Dick

Trying to get a ROPS for an L4150

I dug it out of the heap - and here it is ! It's 37" high above the fenders, 47" overall width at the flanges - weight is about 72 lb. (scale under one leg at a time 36 each)

L245DT New clutch, pressure plate but now slips

Good question - I didn't see the grease at first - up in the dark photo margin on my screen.

L245DT New clutch, pressure plate but now slips

I think there should be about an inch of free pedal travel. Couldn't quite understand the post above. What were the original symptoms before replacing the clutch?

L3350 Shuttle Shift lost forward, reverse and PTO

A pressure test won't verify a failed clutch - but turning the pto with the engine off will show whether the shaft is connected to the engine through the dry clutch disc. Pto engagement is mechanical - so if the clutch is good, the pto should be locked when the engine is off (with clutch pedal...

L3350 Shuttle Shift lost forward, reverse and PTO

Many L3350's have a 2-stage clutch and a mechanical shuttle - but the models with hydraulic shuttle have a single dry disc clutch that powers everything. These symptoms line up with a failed clutch disc. The tractor has to split to change it - but the job is pretty straight forward. Just has...

L3350 Shuttle Shift lost forward, reverse and PTO

Power steering, 3pt hitch and FEL work off the engine's hydraulic pump(s) - the hydraulic shuttle is actuated from that system too. Its control valve actuates a wet clutch pack, acting as a second in-line clutching mechanism to start and stop F/R travel. The L3350 WSM would show exactly what's...

L3350 Shuttle Shift lost forward, reverse and PTO

First idea from the symptoms says failed clutch, but it could be something else. Did it have good pulling power before this? The L3350 (1985-1990) has an 8-speed gear-type trans and most have a mechanical shuttle. In its later years, hydraulic shuttle was an option. Please let us know if...

Trying to get a ROPS for an L4150

The roll bar is a bit bulky and heavy so may be $pendy to ship by the usual suspects (UPS, DHL, etc) Its about 4' wide, 3' high and the bottom flanges are maybe 7" x 12", weight is around 75 lb (all guestimates) The bar was used when I picked it up for cheap many years ago in VT - stored...

Trying to get a ROPS for an L4150

I've had a spare one for years in my pile of surplus great stuff. It's full height, not folding, which with Ag tires is around 7-1/2 feet. I bought it as a backup when I chopped one to go into my garage. Sold the tractor with the chopped one - so this one sits. I don't think there was ever a...

    Woods RM42 Spindle rebuild

Post #8 has now been edited to show more of the machine - with detail of how the drive pulley is fastened to the shaft using a collet (69). There re no snap rings - with the collet released, the shaft slides down and out of the bearing housing

    Woods RM42 Spindle rebuild

Online images show a few variants of the RM42 - a 42" cut single-spindle mower with swing-back blades, made for many years by Woods. The drive pulley at the top of the shaft is held on by a keyed tapered collet, a great way to fasten to a shaft, guaranteeing a concentric and strong...

    L4850 Clutch adjustment

Sounds like this machine has the EC "ever clutch" - where the foot pedal operates a valve under the floorboard with a linkage mechanism. The pto clutch is separate and operates by a hand lever near the seat. Here's a page from my L5450 WSM, which I think is the same setup . From full-up, the...

What components needed for a clutch job - L275DT

I'd suggest having a clutch disc, release bearing and alignment tool on hand. But if it was smooth and not chattering it may not need a pressure plate.

Does anyone know if all L4600 HST tractors are equipped with "Featherstep HST" ?

Not sure this is responsive to your question - bet here goes: (full disclosure - I don't know much about HST's really - but think they are intersting.) For a dealer to not have much experience inside one is not unusual - they are historically near-bullet-proof if oil service is maintained. A...

Kubota wont go forward or reverse

In addition to no F and R motion, if the pto does NOT work turning a load, the clutch is the most likely root cause. Low or no pressure from the charge pump directly points to a bad clutch. An L48 owner in NJ (with similar HST) lost F and R motion a few months ago and found a new clutch was...
