    New to Orange Tractors

You will find that getting the right balance makes all the difference in how much work gets done. Compact tractors tend to be light in the back particularly with a loader up front. The 4wd can disguise the imbalance on level ground leaving you unaware that there may be too much weight on the...

    Practicals of Skidding Winch Operation

Good decision! Very handy accessory! I worked alone quite often and the Farmi snatch block saved me a lot of back & forth walking over rough ground. Hope yours works out well also!

    Practicals of Skidding Winch Operation

About the handiest piece of gear I used with the logging winch was the self-releasing snatch block. A snatch block enables the winch to pull in any direction using a pulley attached to some anchor point. But a standard snatch block requires you to open up the pulley to insert the cable before...

    L2910 Backhoe on a L3010?

The model numbers here are a bit confusing so it wouldn't hurt to clear things up. Title of thread says L2910. Text of thread says L2900. Kubota didn't sell an L2910, at least stateside, but did sell a B2910. So L2900, yes? It would help even more to find out the model number of the backhoe...

L2501TSC 48 inch Box Blade or no?

Always thought those factory implement recommendations leaned to the conservative side. It may be that Kub is being extra cautious because of the comparatively low rated horsepower of the L2501. For comparison, my BX handled a standard sized 48" box blade with ease.

    Bushhog in Reverse

It's misleading for anyone to say that you shouldn't run a brush cutter backing up... just about everyone needs to back their cutter into some tight spots at some point but it's obvious you have to be careful to avoid running into stumps, rocks, etc. when doing so. And there is probably some...

BX2380 mower deck won’t lock out on “top”

Ok, thanks for explaining. I never mowed with the FEL or 3pt attachments on the BX and likewise always removed the deck for "tractor chores". But if folks need to leave the deck on while doing those "tractor chores", getting it a little more out of the way is a good idea.

BX2380 mower deck won’t lock out on “top”

You guys have me scratching my head about this. I ran my BX from 2005, when I bought it new, to 2019 when I sold it with 1,100 hours, and the entire time that height adjuster never went into the top position. I just used it like that and the deck worked perfectly fine for mowing and also...

Leaving kubota L3302DT in four wheel drive

Since you mention "driveway maintenance", can we assume it's an unpaved drive (i.e. gravel, dirt, etc.)? If so, keep it in 4wd or not as you choose. It shouldn't make much difference to the tractor since the looser surface will have a bit of "slippage". On a paved, dry surface, use 2wd. Just...

    Hydraulic HST filter change

Interesting bit of tractor trivia... those filters have been installed by descendents of King Kong on the Kubota assembly lines for at least the last 25 years! Maybe one can consider it a rite of passage... true Kubota mastery is not achieved until one gets that da## filter loose. Mine defied...

    Tiller Help

Sounds like you are making progress. Adjusting the slip clutch is a trial-and-error process... and you have to make adjustments under working conditions in the ground. You are trying to find the sweet spot where it churns the soil but slips when you catch a rock or other large object. Raised...

    Tiller Help

"new to PTO equipment"... You may or may not know that PTO accidents are resposible for many injuries and fatalities on the farm. Please be super careful around the PTO. Engine off and keys in your pocket when you are working on it, for example. That said, there are 3 possible sources for...

Tractor for woods and trail use?

If a dozer or skidder is beyond reach for your needs or resources, check out a pto-driven logging winch. Allows you to keep the tractor on safe terrain while gathering logs and is easier, quicker and safer than dragging them from the drawbar. Not cheap, but you can get pretty much what you...

looking for some help, trying to find a bucket for my BH70 backhoe

A BH70 is larger than than BX hoes by a good margin so the alternate buckets won't be the same. Good idea to look at other sources though. Getting the pin geometry to match will probably be the biggest issue. Also, lots of metal fab shops are in the business of making or repairing buckets...

    bx23d vs bx23s

The BX23D was made about 20 years ago. The BX23S is a current model. Odds are a mower deck for the old one would not mount on the new one but probably worth taking measurements, etc. if it's a good deck. Old mower decks can require some work as bearings, pulleys and gearboxes accumulate wear.

Utility Tractor Backhoe attachment frame vs hitch vs Mini Excavator

You will spend the rest of your life, I think, trying to find a subframe type backhoe that directly mates up with a Westendorf loader equipped M6800, because it's an older, utility type tractor with a non- factory loader. And it sounds like you may not have the time to spend the months it would...

    3 Point Behavior

Having the arms float upward freely is normal for 3 point setups without the draft control engaged. Any attachment other than a tillage implement - a bush hog, for example - needs to ride up when crossing uneven ground. You need an operator's manual and a shop manual !

    BX2601 with BX23 size tires????

If you've got those gear ratios and tire diameters all figured out, I hope you'll post a picture of what you ended up with. A low-rider B2601 should be pretty cool! Have to say though putting on smaller tires for the mud is just backwards of what those mud-bog 4x4 racers do. They aim for the...

Does this belong to my 1880?

Give the back of the tractor a good inspection. Those lynch pins are often used for securing parts of the 3 pt linkages or the pins on 3 pt implements. Sometimes they are even used by owners in place of some other piece of hardware that broke or went missing back there. If your tractor had a...

BX23's are NOT for mud gripe!

Avoid the mud when you can. If your situation makes working in the mud necessary, at least take 15 minutes and clean the dang thing a little afterward. Leaving it sit with mud or whatever caked all over isn't doing the tires or the mechanical stuff any favors.
