Hello - New to all of this and need a bit of advice. Looking to buy a used bx23s. I found one for what seems like a decent deal, but I need a mower and and grass bagger. I found a mower / bagger set, but the seller says its from a bx23d. Will this set fit on a bx23s ?
Also - if the 23s does not work out, any thoughts on a 25d vs 23s ? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

The BX23D was made about 20 years ago. The BX23S is a current model. Odds are a mower deck for the old one would not mount on the new one but probably worth taking measurements, etc. if it's a good deck. Old mower decks can require some work as bearings, pulleys and gearboxes accumulate wear.

Yea parts off of a BX23D are very unlikely to fit at all, The BX23D being a much older model.
The BX25 was a very popular model and was well made.
If you found a low hour, well maintained, unit for the right price you would not be bad off.
The one down side to the BX25 is that it did not offer the SSQA adapter for the loader, so you would need to either get the adapter or stick with buckets, forks, grapples and other loader attachments made for that unit, and they are getting hard to find.
A lot of BX25's came with Loader, Backhoe, and Mower deck.

FWIW... When I bought my BX23S 6 years ago, sales guy said' need the mmm( mid Mount Mower )'. OK, how much ? $2500.. yeesh ! for that price I can buy a LOT of used/abused riders. No thanks. Heck I'm still using my 25 year old Cub Cadet ,with 2 bags....zero cost in 6 years....... haven't had the BH off (neighbours would freak out...) and loader's been off ONCE, to repair bad factor weld.
You really should remove MMM when loader/BH work AND remove loader/BH when mowing the lawn. have you considered the PITA labour and time involved for those operations ? Also, WHERE do you store loader/BH units ? They ain't small !
Having a dedicated grass cutter/bagger works for me, possibly will work for you ? At 70+ you start thinking ,hmm...HOW do I get UP off the ground this time ?????
Options......gotta look at options !

The mid mower on my BX24 does not interchange with the Mid mower on my BX23D the mounts in the rear are different spacing.

Others have already told you about the deck. Technically it can be made to work but not the way it is.

Bx25 is a 60 series and bx25d is a 70 series. Really pretty much the same tractor though. As far as conparing to the bx23s which is an 80 series, they are really the same tractor with a few minor differences. Drivetrain is all the same. Loader and backhoe are the same (different numbers i know but specs are the same). They added tilt steering and moved the loader joystick to the fender on the 23s. And of course the ssqa that @North Idaho Wolfman said. Bx23s is just a bx25d with a few differences/upgrades

Taking off/on the Front End Loader is easy, the Mid-Mount Mower is a bit more involved though not bad. If you also have to swap wheels and spacers from Turf Tires to something more grippy on a regular basis that's also not horrible...however doing all of that to switch from mowing lawns to working on the woods (or elsewhere) is tedious, especially swapping both ways in one day--in that case I'd consider a dedicated zero-turn mower off your in that sorry of situation. (I don't have space for two machines so the tractor is awesome for the tasks at hand, but changing over is a task I try to minimize.)

With all that said and focusing more on your question, have you considered using a rear-mount finish mower (or brush hog or flail mower)?

Read the thread title one more time... ;)

BX23D to BX23S, that really throws things off on the MMM fitting.

Ya i saw that but then at the end of his post he asked about the difference between bx25d and bx23s
I guess I was focused on the original question. I totally missed the reference to the BX25 at the end of the OP's post...insert red face here...
