How did we manage to reach adulthood?

Having been a farm kid, sometimes I’m surprised we got through it. Some of us didn’t or were maimed pretty badly. We grabbed the back of our hay wagon racks on our bicycles. The MF Super 90 would do over 20 mph. Could get hairy. The old Moline only did 11, so that was easier. That road now...

    The cost of getting old

Thankfully no parts missing or damaged because of a chainsaw. Just realized I don’t use a saw daily and I’m not 25 anymore.

    Leaf Time

I have quite a few trees that drop leaves late. Invariably some get taken care of in the spring. Mulched most of the sugar maple leaves a couple weeks ago. Neighbors Red Oak leaves always end up behind the house per a north wind. Nothing they have any control over.

    The cost of getting old

I’m not as old as some of you guys, but I’m getting up there. Ladders and chainsaws are two things I approach with much more caution than I did years ago. Never liked ladders. Was reasonably adept with a chainsaw.

Not a Kubota... but I need a bit of help on this tractor

Butch - I think you replaced the valve on your tractor not long ago? You should be in a good position to fix your friend’s tractor as well. Sounds like Dan has some great advice to make it better.👍

    What's cookin' boys?

Oh my…look great! Flour tortilla, polish sausage and cheese - what kind of cheese? Any condiments? Mustard, picanteetc.? What’s the occasion? Up here I ate probably 1,000 hot dogs at Track meets when my daughters were running…..seen a lot of those aluminum foil sheets…. My “best”...

    Spreading 23 ton crushed stone

Looks like it came out great. A roller or even a plate tamper really work well. I can relate to the leaves…..have lots left too after grinding up many of them.

    BX guys

If my memory serves, I added a flat washer to each side. Don’t recall if the threaded knobs are OEM or my addition. Was probably 10 years ago. Like someone said, if the tab(s) are broken a fender washer might do the trick.

    Winter Prep Already?!?!

Hmm...seems like the argument is on your part. Couldn't figure out your point from yesterday. I relied on a wood fire for 40 years or so. You're preaching to the choir. Stove heated the house when I was home, but I worked and couldn't tend to it 24/7. Was burning 12-16 face cords of...

Fiddle farting around on the farm.

Neighbors have been picking corn and drying like mad last couple weeks. Been dry here too, but nothing like Texas. Hard to tell from the picture, but there’s a lot of smoke. Their dryer is wood fired; a homebrew thing they devised and built. Wood burner box is about the size of a one-car...

    Winter Prep Already?!?!

Jeepers- had some issues getting the stove in working order this year. First was circuit board issues. Blew one last spring. New one on the shelf since 2021 was bad and put another new one in. Replaced the combustion blower with new as a preventative measure. Getting a vibration and believe it...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Powder coat on lift cylinder for snow blower cracked and was peeling off. Been 11 years, so not an immediate failure of the finish. Like many guys here will say, sometimes powder coat is not a good finish. Nothing fancy, just ground off powder coat with wire wheel, primed and painted...

    Anyone know what this is?

Apologies on the 15” size. Missed the tape in the picture on my cell phone My bad. Approximate size of the seat, like a cover? Whatever it is looks flimsy, but bet Kubota would want $35 for a replacement…..😉

    Winter Prep Already?!?!

There’s an old saying about “ it’s too cold to snow.” Often true, unless you’re talking about a north wind and Lake Effect. Cold makes it snow harder if the Lakes are warm and not frozen.

    BX guys

Skeets- had a few buddies here same happen on their BX. Mine’s okay so far as of yesterday. Couple pulled the cowling off like @armylifer. Couple just let it rattle around in there with broken tabs. One or more talked about trying to fix with epoxy because they had the broken pieces. Don’t...

    Anyone know what this is?

I have several unproductive smart aleck suggestions but honestly have no clue. Mot familiar with the snowblower model. What is the size? Hard to guess scale from the picture.
