    The sheriff called me.....

Here's a picture I took while working on the Cat hyd pump. The Case 730 is in the picture. If you notice the hydraulic hoses on the tractor, right behind the steel panel, at the very top you can see the top half of the maintainer. It is not very big! That LED light is not as big as a pencil...

    The sheriff called me.....

He's a good friend. His family owns the hydraulic repair shop up near the City and I've done business with them for years. He lives not too far away, and said he noticed it going by and then came back a while later and it still caught his eye. The tractor sets in a lean-to that faces the...

    The sheriff called me.....

It was 9:30 PM and he said there was a red light on in my barn. The barn is in the next county 22 miles away. Said he noticed it while driving by, and the barn is 300' off the road. Told him I can't imagine what it might be. Only red light I can think of is a very small mouse chaser gizmo...

    Needing a hydraulic filter

Got it all back together and works good. The spring loaded mechanism that holds the filter in place had me fooled for a while. The picture I took when I was messing with in on the truck bed shows it wrong. The round pin goes on top of the washer which sets on the spring. That cover weighs...

    Engine running too cool?

We most often hear issues of engines running too warm. Here's a statement about engines running too cool and how it was remedied. Simple solution. Caterpillar had a heating problem with the D330 and D333 engines. The coolant circulates too fast and was not cool enough going back to the...

Fiddle farting around on the farm.

We have a lot of red cedar growing everywhere around here, but the post of choice is hedge (or osage orange, or bodark) all the same wood, different names. You can't weld on it, but it will outlast steel post.

    Bent front arm.

If you're going to do the work yourself the simplest cure would be to use a cut-off wheel and cut a slot in the inside and bottom of the arm that is bent. Then it would be simple to get straight. Then weld a plate over the area.

    Post hole auger thinger

I agree. I would straighten the auger enough to do the last hold, and use it n the future. It doesn't have to be perfect because it would only waller out a bit bigger hole if it isn't.

Hydraulic/Trans Oil Fill For L2550 & Drain Plug Question

The original design of that opening was to let water drain out when the tractor was used in rice paddies. The loose cotter pin was to keep thing from going in the bell housing.

    Checking Diesel Injectors

I've never made a tester because I can take them to a nearby diesel IP repair shop and have injectors tested there. I can stand there and watch the pop off pressure and the spray pattern just as you video shows. You may be building a tool that doesn't get used much and gets stored way more...

    LandGlide app

So a surveyor comes and pounds a wooden lath or a half inch rebar driven into the ground, or an orange tape wrapped around a post to mark the result of his work. Just how long do you really think any of those types of markers will last? I paid for the survey and intend to find it years later...

    Clean Water

Looking good!! I'd be interested to know if the water level changes with the trees being gone. I took an old bolt and tied a string to it and used that to drop into the well to measure water depth. Takes a little bit to see the water on the string, but I'd put a knot at the water level (when...
