    Ballast Box

8" pipe, 6 foot long, 2- 20 foot chains with a log choker on one end and a grab hook on the other, two trailer positions (goose neck / bumper pull). 586 pounds. Works great backing filling ruts and slicking down roads. Not a lot hanging out the back when backing up in tight spaces.

'Fess Up'......mistakes you've made or close calls.......

My 17 year old son was using the 5" rotary cutter when the overspeed coupler failed at the PTO shaft as the shaft driven by the blades whipped around it caught his tee shirt along his back left a mark, a couple of inches higher, the piece of the coupling and "U" joint would have hit head, he'd...

24 Ball & Burlap trees to plant (and holes to dig) - best approach?

Layout the orchard per recommended spacing for the type of fruit, rent a skid steer with a 30 " auger and bucket. Purchase a load of good top soil and a couple of bails of admendment ( peat moss, perlite, etc.), as others have said add water, admendment and some top soil, don't plant too deep...

L2501 temp question - first time diesel owner

If you have a infrared het gun measure the engine temperature at the engine temperature sensor and see what the temperature is, if it's 180-200 degrees that's good, if it's below then you may have a faulty thermostat.

    Rebuilding the well pump

Exactly what are you saving the brass cylinder for, your grandkids? i'd suggest installing it and get pumping. I'm fortunate one of my three wells is free flow, at 400 feet giving me 10.5 PSI (24ft.) at the well head running running 25GPM, 24/7 for the past 32 years.

    Tractor is dripping oil

I'd suggest throughtly cleaning the area above that area, including any connected lines, etc., run it for quite awhile then inspect the general area starting from the top down. If there are any hydraulic lines above wrap the fittings with toilet paper possible when the tractor is cold it may...

80 foot trench for propane line

As always do as you feel is best, I agree a trencher is the way to go, ensure the line is sized for the task and any future needs i.e. generator. I'd also suggest installing detectable tape, it's cheap enough before you backfill.

How crazy are you about topping off your tank?

I top off prior to use, ckeck oil, coolant and hydraulic fluid, start the engine, top off while the engine warms up. I check the tires every couple of weeks. I've got my lug bolts and FEL bolts marked, so a quick visual will let me know if anything moved.

How do you spend your money?

Sad to say I ask myself the same question. I could write a thesis on the defination of wanting and needing. I could probably justify the cost of a cardboard baler, almost everday packages arrive (USPS, Fedex,UPS, motor freight, etc. It's bad when I make a purchase from an entirely new vendor and...

    B-7800 Broken front Axle

Your WSM will have the correct lubricant. A good 80-90 gear oil would probaly be OK. It must have been a good size load, I'll bet it got your attention.

    PFL1242 Land Pride pallet forks

Consider checking at your local equipment rental companies, they sell used equipment. I paid $600.00 for 5500#, with 48 inch forks made by Arrow ( in great shape). I welded on two 3/8" grab hooks on the upmost outboard side. Whichever way you go ensure that the main top bar is machined from a...

    King Kutter Professional tiller

I've had a 6' about 8 years and it does a good job, I usually subsoil first. It's better if the soil is not too dry. Adjust the rear discharge to get the disired result.

Re-boring and tapping bolt holes for mid PTO assembly?

I'd suggest using metric thread restorer of the correct size, never use a tap (taps are for cutting threads), purchase a correct size, longer flange head bolt ( so as to grab additional threads) and ensure to use a new copper crush washer or a metal bonded sealing washer.

    Welding supplies cost

The prices aren't out of line, the hoses should last a while, you may be able to shop the wire but why you're already at the supply house. I believe with all consumables, just pay as you go. I have a problem with any supply house I enter, can you spell wanting and needing.

    B219 FEL Float Function?

Try pushing the FEL joystick all the way straight forward and see if it stays in that position. He kept the tractor in great shape, you'll think about him everytime you use it especially with that oversized bucket.

Kubota L3830 GST jerking after getting hung up on stick of wood?

Wow a limb big enough to lift the front of the tractor! The limb should have left some marks in the affected area, look more closely for bent linkage or pinched hydraulic lines. Is the rotary mower /PTO disengaged when the tractor jerks?
