Best Way to Seat New Seal

It's the front axle oil seal/pivot seal. I've tried once to replace this and ended up at the dealership to have it done because I couldn't get the darn seal to drive in squarely. Well, it's leaking (very small amounts) again, so figure something is wrong and it's due for another replacement.

Best Way to Seat New Seal

Hi- What’s the best way to seat a new axle oil seal on a BX in the absence of a press? How do I get it to go in straight/squarely? Is there a grease or something to make the seating process easier? Thanks for any help/advice!

    Have Fun Pricing Hydraulic Hose

Interesting... I had a very similar experience at my local O’Reilly. They wanted like $500 for two hoses for my grapple. It was two 1/4” hoses with a total length of around 72”. I just walked out.

    BX Axle Breather

Hi- A little more on this subject. I have not installed a breather, but did drain out a bit of axle fluid. I have noticed that the slight seep only seems to occur when I'm using the tractor, when it's parked and in the garage, not a drop is leaking. Does this seem odd? Does this confirm the...

Oil dripping from front wheel of my bx25.

Hi- Also, check YouTube for videos on replacing this seal on the BX - there are several of them. It's a fairly easy repair, but needs time. The part I had trouble with was seating the new seal, which is why I ended up at the dealer for my repair (took the hub and axle ends in with me and...

    Land Pride SGC0548 Couplers

Hi- Can someone tell me what style and size couplers are used on the Land Pride SGC0548 grapple? I don't have one of these but am getting some hoses made up to run from my rear remotes to use with this grapple, which I'm planning on purchasing in the near future. Thank you!

Leaky Front Axle Seal Repair Cost

Hi- I recently had this done. I had both done (took both front axle assemblies into the dealer) and I think it was around $300 or $350. I don’t exactly remember.

    BX Axle Breather

I wonder now if my front axle was just overfilled. Maybe enough so that whatever heat/pressure that was generated pushed a bit of oil past the seal...? So maybe it wasn’t excessive pressure but excessive gear oil. I have since drained some out (oil level is now half-way between low and full...

    BX Axle Breather

I drained some of the oil to see if that might make a difference. The oil level now reads about 1/2 way between low and high on the dipstick.

    BX Axle Breather

Yep, that’s what I’m talking about. I think the larger Kubota’s have them, but not the BX ( I don’t think the B’s have them either).

    BX Axle Breather

Puzzles me too, which is why I posted the original message; doesn't really seem like it should do that :-(

    BX Axle Breather

I used 80-90W...I think. It was the Kubota brand from the dealer...so wonder if it may have not been what I thought it was. Last time I did changed the oil, I used Lucas 80-90W. Now I have to go look at the Kubota stuff the dealer gave me. The level is also near the higher end of the...

    BX Axle Breather

Fair point, and I've definitely mulled this over. Who am I to change Kubota's original engineering? It makes me wonder if the Kubota folks intended for the front seals to seep though? Surely this is a sign that something is wrong? I've checked the fluid level and it looks to be within the...

    BX Axle Breather

Hi- I was out working this weekend, doing some loader work and noticed, after parking the tractor that there was a very tiny bit of axle fluid around the front axle joint on the left side of my BX. I just (like a month ago) had the seals replaced on both sides because the front left was...

BX Rear Remote and Hoses for Grapple

Great, thanks for the info! Are there different diameters that can be used? I’ve been reading that 1/4” should be good for this. Nice idea with the garden hose!

BX Rear Remote and Hoses for Grapple

Hi- I have two rear remotes on my BX. One of these I’d like to use for a hydraulic top-link. The other I’d like to use to power a grapple (specifically, a Land Pride SC0548). How long should my hoses be and what type? Is there a specific diameter I should use? Is there a pressure rating...
