The car project I mentioned previously had a couple of 1/2 sq ft solar panels on the roof. They were just a gimmick to entice Customers hoping to save the planet. The max electrical output with the sun directly overhead was about 30W or .03 KW. Under perfect conditions (no losses or...

Tree work and pulling advice - rope or chain recommendations?

I use a 30' tow strap rated at 15,000 lb whenever I can. If a longer length is needed, I have about 100' of log chain. I prefer the the lighter tow strap.

EVs like HEVs have regenerative brakes. When you use the brakes, the EV motor becomes a generator and delivers some charge back to the battery. That's why HEVs get better fuel economy in city traffic driving. There is no more available energy past Regen braking limits unless you get close to a...

I worked on an EV project for one of the OEMs in the Detroit area. This was a few years back, so the technology may have changed. The battery temperature lower limit back then was ~5°F. Anything colder and the battery liquid would freeze, rendering the battery useless. There were battery...

What's big, scary looking and green?

Will it have an app screen to locate the nearest charging station and if that location is busy or not?

What's big, scary looking and green?

Other than the cities, I don't see or read of any charging stations going in. 3 phase power is not available in this neck of the woods. The plan seems to be to eliminate transportation.

    Old Computer Tech stuff

I started with an 8088 IBM clone. 254K RAM and a noisy 40 MB hard drive. We had a dot matrix printer and a Prodigy account with an 1100 baud modem. That was about 1989. In college, I learned Fortran and BASIC using a deck writer. After that and due to a lack of monitors (hooked to large...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

I cut down some honey locust trees and put them in a pile. Drilled holes in the stumps and poured in some concentrated triclopyr. So far, haven't noticed any beet juice leaking out. Those trees are nasty.

    Regen shouldn't be so confusing!

I was confused as well about the regen process when I got the tractor. The label on the tractor gives instructions to hit inhibit switch to allow regen. In this sense of the word, it means turn the inhibit switch off. No other explanation. The owners manual was not much help either. Parked Regen...

    Crop Land Rental

The total tillable acres here is 52. The farmer is about 12 miles away, but raises crops on other farms near here. Here is his equipment, set up for soybeans.

    Crop Land Rental

I am in SE Indiana, about 10 miles north of the Ohio River. Thanks for the replies. I will check with the County Extension Service, run by Purdue. I like the current farmer; he raises about 4000 acres and does a good job keeping the weeds out.

    Crop Land Rental

Hello, I am looking for some advice on crop land rental prices. The farmer that is renting the property raises corn and soybeans every other year. The land has some slope to it, so it dries out faster than flatland. The soil types are clay loam and sandy loam. The corn yield has been close ~195...
