It must some type early glow plug. it looks like some type of phosphorous sulfide coated wick that must burn off. They're putting it in right next to the injector. They had a full can which indicates they're still available. I'd guess this is a pre-emission engine. Is this engine covered by the Orange Protection Program?

The Covid crisis has made the yachting sector collapse, and boats can be picked up for ridiculous prices (even more now with the cost of fuel skyrocketing - power boats are almost given away for free...), so my nephew got himself a nice 28-foot sailing yacht for EUR 1,000.

Inside is this 2000 Betamarine Beta Z482, a marinized Kubota 29.2 cid twin with 13.5 HP. Low hours and runs beautifully. It had been sitting for 10 (!) years, moored in a port on the English Channel, but even after so long, there was not a drop of oil leaking out. After a full service (new oil and fuel; all lines, belts and filters replaced;...) it started right up and ran perfectly, without smoke or hesitation.

This engine alone is worth at least twice what he paid for the boat!

What is the definition of a boat? A hole in the water into which one throws money :) Yeah I miss mine

There's a saying in Dutch: " Buy a boat and work yourself to death"; "boot" (boat) and "dood" (death) rhyming with each other...
