    New Guy Question

just out of curiosity...... are the pins put in the correct direction or are they supposed to slide in from the outside like a loader does?

    M7040 Hydraulic problem

Wetdog my 6040 is the same way as yours. I've found it annoying at times as well but just work around it same as you.. Yes my loader will indeed pick up the front-end with the main cylinders but not the tilt or curl.

New Clutch Installed unable to adjust

Just to ask... is there a second adjustment for the pto clutch? My only experience with a dual clutch is on old Masseys to be exact and they had a separate adjustment (three screws) in the back end of the clutch you had to adjust as well as the main clutch.

M7040 Remote valve is hard to get out of float...

The float is "positioned" by balls around a spool internal to the control valve. If you look at the valve (under the right side floorpan, inside the protective shield) I believe it's the upper cable that is the up/down spool. Memory being what it is, you may want to trace the cable. Anyhow on...

    Front wheels

Bulldog...... my manual only stipulates about keeping the track narrow and talks about damage only in reference to having a FEL in use. Otherwise I'd go with okay......

    panicky truck owner, kerosene smell

Too soon? Probably. Most likely the mechanic was sloppy changing the fuel filter, it's hard not to spill some amount. If it doesn't abate over the next few drives then I'd start looking for the source.

Front axle gear oil weird smell

It's possible you're smelling gear oil but it almost always has to be leaking to do so unless it's dripping on something hot. I'd start out by looking it over carefully and make sure you don't have a hydraulic leak somewhere. forgot to add...... check your levels, perhaps that'll narrow down...

Hydraulic problem, Bucket stick left gets fluid from both hoses???

Thanks for the link Kenny! I would have never guessed the FEL operating like that but it makes sense for them to do so safer and requires less operator thinking I'm sure. The regen explains why I've noticed the bucket being slow the first time I dump it all the way to "slap" it and clean out...

M7060, Purchase now or wait for non-DPF engine

Just two cents I guess but I'm with Bulldog..... never would have bought one with the additional emissions and glad I got in before the game.

    Hydraulic shuttle shift?

You'll enjoy the hydraulic shuttle, just don't give it too much abuse :) One thing to know up front and REALLY keep in mind is this is a purely hydraulic clutch before the gearbox. There is nothing to keep the tractor from moving when shut off except for the brakes, if you forget you may end...

    Gen Set

Skeets.... I have the exact Generac you're looking at. I really don't have but a few hours on it but it generates fine, set it up on a whole house setup. The only thing I'd say in negative light is it's a bear to get going. It'll start on the 9th or tenth pull period and it's like pulling a...

Please Help!Losing power with M8540 after operating for an hour or so

Sounds like you've covered most all the bases that would come to mind. When you drained the tank did you actually remove it and rinse it out checking for anything that may have been floating around inside? Just a thought. The first thing that came to mind was an hour is about right for a tank...

    M5040 belt change

What's the hours on the tractor? I'm hard pressed to think it's "badly" in need but..... that aside it's pretty much like the old cars if you remember when they all had v-belts. The alternator should provide enough slack after you loosen it to allow the belt to be removed. IIRC you need to...
