What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

I have a question. Never used or owned a backhoe but why do you take all four wheel off the ground? Is there an advantage to it when using the backhoe?

I've found that the "platform" feels a lot more firm than with any of the tires (rubber) on the ground...ie; feels firmer and more solid when I'm digging or moving dirt.

I try to always have the front bucket fully rotated down to sort of lock in the front, not wanting the hydraulic pistons to have much stress(s) when things get "bumpy".

I keep an eye on the underframe bolts and substructure, and there's not been a single issue to date.

This is the first tractor I've ever owned, so I'm learning as I go.....which started in 2018.

Less than a month ago, I purchased a used BX23S to help maintain the my newly purchased house's property. The Scotch Bloom had taken over the 3 acres behind the house and was 5-6 feet high on fairly steep hills. To be honest, I was worried the BX23S would not be able to haul the rotary mower up the hills.

Not today, actually Wednesday on my BX23S. I installed 2" spacers to the rear wheels.

Added telescoping stabilizers to the 3 point.

and finished cutting the last of the Scotch Bloom that was on 3 acres of my property. This is climbing a 30 degree steep hill.

This tractor has amazed me.

We’ve been having problems with trucks and jeeps on our property. Well one of them finally got stuck. Had to pull him out with the tractor.

Did a check on both orange today. Found the B3200 front tires down around 10psi. Aired them up and checked the rest. All good. Harvest time this week so I went out and picked up spilled corn from transferring between the combine and the grain wagons. Almost a full bucket. Figure I had around 6 bags worth reclaimed. Cleaned it up and will use it in my wildlife feeders. Still a bunch left in the fields. Around here if it hits the ground they do not pick it up

Leaves are down, so chopped them up, pulled mower deck and put chains on.

Lot nicer putting chains on at 60 degrees than 30…..

They still need to be “run in” as my Dad calls it. Will take some adjustments after that.

Done - took a little tightening on left side after running them in.

A BX without spacers doesn’t allow much room. Need to keep them tight.

These chains have stretched a lot last couple years. They’re about 10 years old now.

The double-ring chains on my old Moline are almost 70 years old…..pretty thin, but they work.

topsoil, seed and straw job today for a repeat client I worked on this spring.

It got late so the "after" pics were taken with the tractor already loaded on the trailer to head home. I can assure you that Orange was there today with a box blade and landscape rake.

Stability!
Many however, raise the machine to a ridiculously high position, and that is poor technique.
Just keeping the machine weight off the whees is the best/most stable position.

Yesterday used the grapple to clear some brush and keep the woods back and this morning unloaded some straw for the fall planting / mulching.

This afternoon we cut moved some maple tree chunks from the neighbors across the way…grapple just barely opened enough to get ‘em in…had to cut from both sides ….it was about as much as the little girl could handle going up the hill/road with the larger pieces…still some color in the leaves that are left. The new ballast box / top box worked very well.

Oil and filter change, greased the loader, installed the rear scraper blade and ready for snow!

Used the L2501 to aid in a differential swap when supply issues with parts on back order prevented overhauling the original diff.

Hollow maple tree in the middle of intersection of our private road where it splits off to various driveways. Trying to make a turn through there with a trailer more than about 8’ is somewhere between challenging and irritating. Never quite understood the reasoning behind leaving it there, but Dad always wanted it to stay. He and I were very clear that when he was no longer around to protect it, it was leaving.

Chipper took care of the limbs yesterday afternoon.

Skunk came to visit while we were chipping. He didn’t seem to care what we were doing or how much racket we were making. They’re weird little animals.

This morning, before church, continued cleaning as much gravel as possible away from the stump.

The WG24 took care of the stump. First day doing much with it. A little work with the loader and a rake got the road fixed. Suspect I’ll revisit a final grade after it settles in over the next couple months. Hauled off all the chips from the stump, two and a half bucket loads of them, and backfilled the hole with granite fines and gravel. Topped it with 3/4”.

Took out about 10 additional stumps around the yards and in trails near the houses. This was one of the larger ones, a white oak about 28”.

Don’t know exactly how long it took to grind. Didn’t seem very long. Took a couple hours to do about 10, including backfilling and cleanup as needed, but some were only about 10”. Stump grinder was definitely a good addition to the equipment stable.
