Leveled the driveway out before the snow arrives (it’s been less than perfect since the last time I plowed hah). Started with the snowpusher as sort of a poor man’s box blade. Worked only okay. Then switched to bucket for back dragging and finer level finish.

I also moved this winter’s firewood near the house. I really like using these IBC totes for firewood.

There are those who will say that back dragging is not a good idea.

The caution for back dragging is to not roll the bucket all the way back (where the cutting edge as close to the tractor as it can go) and apply down pressure while in reverse. That process can cause bent rams in cylinders.

Like @D2Cat pointed out, I’m under the impression the real problem with back dragging is doing so with the bucket curl rams extended far. Hopefully I’m alright, haven’t busted anything yet!

One step closer to getting my "Thumb" on...

Got the mount positioned last night and held in place with a couple self-tapping screws. Drilled two holes, top and bottom through the 3/8" plate on the drill press, then mounted it to the arm. Once properly positioned, it was removed and fully welded. Once the mount is welded in place, the screws will be removed, and the holes closed.

Tomorrow...remove the paint on the dipper arm where the mount is located, and get the sucker welded in place. Prime and paint...and finished!!!

I had a fantastic day at the land. The weather was perfect, fall colors are peaking and had the help of a fine young man. He is a student at UW Stevens Point and hoping to go into land management working for the WI DNR and eventually into his own company. I am working on clearing a slope down from my camping, picnic area and will be planting wild Lupine, a native forb, with a few other native species for good measure.

He really is enjoying the tractor seat time, something that he does not get with his university studies. Today he got his first lesson in taking off a 3pt hitch implement!

Used the L3901DT to move out trailer around with the pallet fork frame and ball mount. A lot easier than trying to maneuver with the truck.

That is if you don't take in a count for having to take the bucket off, put the pallet forks on and taking the forks off the frame. Then you have to do all that in reverse. This would be easier if I would add automated SSQA pin release to the FEL.

Hydraulic quick couplers are awesome especially if you go between the forks and bucket a lot like I do.

It's been my favorite upgrade that I did to the MX series tractor.

I guess the hydraulic quick coupler on my Skidloader spoiled me.

Spent Saturday building a wheelchair ramp for the wife. We had to bring it down 44 inches, so the ramp had three platforms and three ramps so we could get a grade of 1 to 1.5 inches on it. We had wonderful friends and family come over and help us build a nice ramp so when the wife has her surgery at the end of November and will be in a wheelchair for about three months, I will be able to get her in and out of the house.

The other option was just to move her into the garage or the barn which she wasn't to hip on either one of those ideas.
