Actually as it starts to cool off here a bit we will see many more snakes. In the hot Summer they can't cross a blacktop road here in the daytime because the road's heat will kill them so they just mostly lay in a cool moist place.

It’s time of year for the Japanese Stilt Grass in the yard to bloom. Kind of hard to get all wound up about having a perfect yard when the deer graze on it in the middle of the day routinely anyway.

Same stuff grows down in the creek bottom and I don’t even have to plant, fertilize, or mow it.

The ferns my wife buys in hanging pots always seem to struggle and need some sort of tedious care but these that look exactly the same just grow all by themselves on the north facing slopes in shady areas,

Then there was this perfect mushroom. Wasn’t there at all the day before. Rate of growth of mushrooms is amazing.

Stiltgrass doesn't bloom, the blooming stuff looks like Smartweed/lady’s thumb (Polygonum spp.)
Thanks. Somebody told me it was stiltgrass but they weren’t an expert and I’m not either. I just mow it when it’s high enough to hide snakes. 🙂
