Thinking that while waiting for seals to arrive it would be good to read up about seal and o-ring tricks - such as using hot water to make some seals more flexible - and how to not cut seals while installing.

disconnect your leaky cylinder, keep shaping your realm with one bucket cylinder functioning

20241212_112615.jpg

your machine fully stuck in the dirt, completely empty from leaking all the hydraulic fluid

you can wait around and do other task while waiting for one seal, OR

put you plugs on the leaky cylinder so no fluid can go to it and it is open to move, fill it back up with hydraulic fluid,

go shape you your realm with one bucket cylinder, just dont lift no crazy dirt and break your other cylinder

yes you can do other task and play it safe, but no other task feel as important as shaping your realm

your gonna let a little seal stop you from shaping your realm?

your exact plan: take off both hydraulic line that go to your cylinder, plug them with regular 1/2 plumbing

from what I recall, 1/2 inch plug should seal up your jic 8 female swivel, please let there be plugs that work in your junk pile, but you still need to go get hydraulic fluid

before getting the hydraulic fluid, make sure you have plugs that fit into your jic 8 lines

definitely a bad idea but give it a shot

20241212_122214.jpg

go you through your random plumbing, find you something that will plug regular 1/2 inch house plumbing

No, regular 1/2 house plumbing does not thread into jic 8 female

Take you a hose with you to part store and get you 2 plugs to stop fluid at that cylinder

20241212_154921.jpg

12 dollar just for 2 fitting to plug your hydraulic lines

cheapest hydraulic fluid available: 61 dollar from walmart auto center

20241212_160612.jpg

plug you both lines, add you 3 gallon hydraulic fluid

go shape your realm not using the bucket cylinders, only lift cylinders

20241212_163506.jpg

while waiting for the seal, you are still able to carve earth without leaking your hydraulic oil

just dont use your leaking cylinders, and your system will hold its fluid

who care if you cant control your bucket? use your massive lift cylinders that are not leaking and shape you that realm

icing on the cake: you actually like the bucket flopping around, it has a self leveling when going backward draigging earth down

unbelieveable

ok here you are shaping your realm with just a couple good cylinders

you actually like the bucket flopping around, grades real nice going back and forward,

and you are holding your hydraulic fluid

20241212_172902.jpg

with just a couple good cylinders, L295DT still shapes your realm better than skid loader

20241212_185547.jpg

here you are shaping your realm with only a couple good cylinder

and you prefer the bucket flopping around

so glad to have the fatty meat, go heat it up in its oil on low heat while shaping your realm

name you something that will heal your heart more than those 2 activities? you cant

you thought you had a problem with your leaky cylinders, no you found a solution, unbelieveable

20241212_192059.jpg

nature handing you another gift: you gave up on this bolt, somehow the bolt line up and you got it in there with threadlock,

hold you that robot together with might

20241212_192120.jpg

20241212_192149.jpg

both of your magic trick holding

accept you the gift nature hand you, turn you a problem into solution like you did today

Well the next chapter in this tale of woe might just be " robot loader frame twisted from unequal forces",
But I could be wrong.

fix your shop

20241213_113426.jpg

your shop still not leveled, get you everything off the ground, move to edges, move your home

lift other L295 with your current L295 and put it furthe away, move all the engine parts for that build away

plane you out your shop

20241213_120544.jpg

you hate cleaning your shop, you complain while doing it

lift your other L295 chassis using your L295 loader with chains, setup pallet area and move all engine parts with it

clear you out the way, make you perfect strides and your shop will increase in value

20241213_131040.jpg

favorite new tool: drag you around all your item using your 4 wheel dolly on a strap that you pull

moap you around your shop with less effort, moving all item until your machine can grade that realm

20241213_144219.jpg

lug you around your other L295 pile of part, with less effort using your 4 wheel dolley

today you are not thinking, you are lugging your realm around with mininal effort, just like your L295DT

20241213_151912.jpg

lug away your other diesel engine in parts away from your shop,

only when you lift the block do you realize how it can create enough power to lug around your realm

20241213_153940.jpg

chain up your other L295 to lift

20241213_160726.jpg

get your L295 loader above it, lift it up and move it to close to fence

20241213_162256.jpg

20241213_162703.jpg

you almost flip your tractor trying to lift your other L295 chassis

you can see the wheel off the ground, you had to drop your chassis

you thought your tractor can lift the chassis, no, what is in that chassis that is so heavy?

new plan: lift up one side at a time, get your 4 wheel dolly under it, strap it to the chassis, then

drag around the whole contraption using your loader and get it on a pallet somehow

20241213_165748.jpg

lift one end of your chassis, get your dolley under it

spend you couple hour moving L295 chassis with another L295

20241213_172929.jpg

got your chassis on your dolley, put a strap

20241213_174515.jpg

move around your chassis with your loader

20241213_183246.jpg

Cover your other diesel engine with pickup truck bed liner

20241213_193334.jpg

Finally, 10 hours of moving stuff

Your L295DT ready to build your shop

Build you a shop

20241214_102415.jpg

L295DT building you a shop, so she can have her brother come back to life

she start right up, you can shut her off and turn her as many times as you like,

judge you your engine temperature looking at oil pressure, you dont need no thermometer

Get you some gumption. Apply it with intent.
yes, soak you in that mannerism, apply it to your narrative

That is for sure.

And if he would not be so advice resistant he could do it in half the time and with half the money.
yes i listen, you saw the other D1301 engine that need to be built?

tell your helper to hold your beer, your fixing to build that diesel engine in one shot, no leaks, purring

20241214_120515.jpg

Your favorite thing about L295DT

run your throttle low, let you that diesel lug around your realm, if it start to bog, hit you this throttle and lug you through the bog

Your L295 building you your shop

20241214_130357.jpg

your realm change shape when diesel engine purr

50 something page into thread, your L295 building a shop so you can revive her sibling, wow

20241214_160018.jpg

L295 lugging earth planing out your realm

move you serious earth, low gear 4 x 4, bucket fully down going downhill

This thread.... A bad memory. I rebuilt a 230 Chev 6 cyl and adapted it into a '51 Chev sedan (turtleback) and all was good. Excellent if I can say so ;) But that late fall morning when the temperature dove to single digits and I woke up realizing I had straight water in it. Yup, it broke the block right in the middle - a 'C' shaped fracture about 6" diameter if a full circle. What good are frost plugs, really? A fresh rebuild darn it.

I was getting to be a pretty good welder by then. On anything. Arc, TIG, torch, you name it. "I can do this" despite all the nay sayers saying it couldn't be done. Every time regardless of what I tried, preheat the whole block, whatever, as soon as the block cooled it would open up again. Often right behind the repair as I was doing it.

I'm really happy for someone that actually had success at welding a casting of iron. I'd never do that again but I tried.

Slight hijack.
I'm enjoying this thread. One of the reasons is it reminds me of my brother and myself rebuilding the engine in my dads 71 Datsun pickup. Pulled the motor using a chain strung between two trees. Our shop was a canvas tarp, the floor looked like Joes. No power, had to carry the bare block to the back porch so we could plug in the drill for the hone. Got it back together and I smiled when it fired up. My other younger brother inherited it and drove it for about four years until he rolled it. Came back over on it's wheels and he drove it home and parked it.
Anyway. keep at it Joe.

He did not weld the cracked block, he epoxied a patch in it!
